Moses Lake Show...
This message is from: Frederick J Pack friendlyf...@hughes.net Would those of you fortunate enough to attend the Moses Lake Show please file some reports for those of us less fortunate?? I do know that my mare, Joline (yo-LEE-na) with Bonnie Morris (Shadow Mountain Stables) driving won the cones and gamblers choice. I am begging for any pictures of all events and horses/riders etc. especially pix on my little stallion The Showman and mare Joline. We could only attend in spirit as my wife is infirm and could not have tolerated the trip. Please. Fred All Mail is scanned in AND out by Norton Anti-virus. RE: Moses Lake Show
This message is from: Jacquelyn Leuener [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thank you to all the Show Committee, Taffy Mercer (excellent commentary), Judge Hipsley (excellent acumen), the Danish dignitaries, Kristin Rory Miller and ALL who worked and participated to make Moses Lake a fun, safe and rewarding experience. It was wonderful to have the dignitaries there and visit with Birgit again. The clinics were very educational and quite valuable. Nothing gave me goose bumps more than witnessing owners/handlers take their horses into the ring to present to Judge Hipsley, or entering the dressage court, or trail class and giving it their all. Not to mention the suave turn outs by all the veteran drivers in attendance (you know who you are ladies gentleman).Brian with his team are gorgeous and Karen driving riding her young mare for the versatility award and then pulling 16 foot timbers in the log skid!! So cool! Anne on Misha performing the vaulting team were fun to watch. Ursula, like a little kid, cruising back and forth on her bike to the indoor arena made me giggle. Who needs cable or satellite TV with entertainment like this! The Grant County fairgrounds are very conducive for showing and I just hope next year they bring back the landscaping a bit and scrub the women's' bathroom showers..and get the PA system out by the barns working. :-) Congratulations to Jim Judy Jeude of Bridgeport CA, their son Jeff and his family from Montana, who won the Kelsi Cook Family Fjord Horse Award on JJ's Gunnar! It was wonderful to see a family enjoying the show together with Gunnar. What a lovely sentiment by the Cook family and homage to their daughter. The long haul from Nevada (close to 14 hours) was worth it and I am so proud of my 4 year old mare, Alena. Maybe next year I can exhibit at Moses and Libby and present my young gelding as well. We shall see! Special thanks to Karen of Great Basin Fjords Sandy for their support and laughter. Until then, be well and do good work. PNFPG Moses Lake Show coming up quickly...
This message is from: Willows Edge Farm [EMAIL PROTECTED] The show is coming ... I know there were a few people who had emailed or called me asking about Sponsorship / Vendor letters and they're done now. For those in the PNFPG, we are looking for sponsors for the different classes as well as those who might be a good fit for vendor opportunities, especially since the fairgrounds will be extra busy holding 2 horse events this year. Go hit up your local feed store, tack shop or even your vet trainer. All are excellent candidates for sponsoring a class. I believe we have an auto dealership already, but if you just bought a new rig, ask them as well. Postcards are also available for you to take and drop at some of those locations as well. Drop me a note at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] and I will be happy to get this information over to you. Moses Lake show - hotel issue
This message is from: Scott and Corinne Logan [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello all, Here's a question for those who went to the Moses Lake show and stayed at the Best Western: Did they give you the group rate? They changed the rate on me, from $80 to $129 per night saying the group didn't meet the quota. I cannot get the management or owner to return any of my dozen calls now, I've gone higher up to the corporate offices and they are not able to do anything since each hotel is independantly owned. If you stayed there, would you please email me let me know. Thanks!! RE: Stall sealer/paint? Moses Lake Show
This message is from: fjords [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Teresa, Glad you had so much fun! It was good to see you. The show committee did an outstanding job and everything went very smoothly. It'll be hard to top next year! Every time it was announced we needed volunteers for something or other they came in droves. It was absolutely awesome the way everyone stepped up to help make the show a success! We even had spectators who were non-fjord owner (but interested in them) come forward to see if they could help! I want to publicly thank you again for donating your entries to the Spring Fling last May when you couldn't attend. Nine people received Teressa Kandianis Scholarships for different activities because of your generous donation. Taffy Mercer Kennewick, WA -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Teressa Sent: Friday, August 31, 2007 9:41 AM To: fjordhorse@angus.mystery.com Subject: Stall sealer/paint? This message is from: Teressa [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm just finishing up my new, nice barn and need to know if it is safe to seal the wood used for the stalls. They are tongue and groove and are left natural right now. Is it safe to seal the wood where they would have the access to chew on it? My horses are not cribbers but if there is food flavor or salt flavor, they will lick a piece of wood or whatever is carrying the smell. Are there brands or types of seal that would be better than others? Thanks for the help. Teressa Kandianis in Ferndale, WA Ps - I took my 3 fjords to Moses Lake and had the most fun I've ever had at a show. The big separate drive/ride warm up arenas were great. The indoor arena was fabulous with very good footing, a concession stand, great loudspeaker system there, office in there, well lit, good staging area. A very safe venue. There were lots of water hose bibs everywhere, lots of electrical hookups, I think 16 separate wash racks with plenty of hose bibs. Shade in the trailer parking area. Very pleasant for me and my horses. Volunteers showed up as we drove in - brought my bales of shavings right to the stalls. My Nina was a pill as usual - but the big driving warm up arena allowed us to blow off some steam and kept her from being over the top and we took first in both Open Pleasure Driving and Reinsmanship. She was fabulous - forward and on the bit and nice extension in her road trot. Karl F said I was actually smiling during my classes. I await Dan Watanabe's pictures to confirm that. And best of all - it was an easy haul from Ferndale - about 5 or 6 hours. Easy on me and my horses. The Show chairman and committee were well organized and the volunteers were all great as well. I'll be there next year. Moses Lake show and Fjord art
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello everyone, The Moses Lake Fjord show committee has been approached by a group of artist in the Spokane, Wa area that have spent the last couple of years getting to know the fjord horse and their owners (or should that be the people they own??) They have been working with Kathy Rollins, long time member of the PNFPG, and I'm told have some really interesting art they are going to bring to the ML show. If you've considered coming to show, even without a horse, maybe the idea of seeing some good, original fjord horse art work will help bump you over the top...or not. We also hope to have some of the origianl founding members of the PNFPG at the show just so we can says thanks for the vision and the guts to hang in there and make it work. Please see below the news release from the Gallery of Thum' and what they say about themselves. Hope to see ya at the show. Gallery of Thum 106 South Madison Spokane WA 99201 Public contact: Cecile Charles (509) 599-0028 On August 24-25-26, 2007, a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Gallery of Thum will be taking several Spokane artists to the Moses Lake Fjord Horse Show at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake, WA. All of these artists are emerging as new artists in this venue. Each artist has a distinctly different style. It takes a great deal of work for a group of artists to learn and develop artworks as a unified group all painting the same venue yet bringing absolutely different works on the same subject. This show will be unique. Artists Cecile Charles, Debbie Hughbanks, Lydia Sproull, Vicki West, Beverly Barnett, and Shelly O. Haas will be presenting paintings specifically to Fjord Horse enthusiasts after researching the breed extensively. Comments from Cecile: Fjord horses are a small Norwegian draft horse with coloring that is artistic in itself, ranging from buff to white to gray, with signature dark hairs running from the forelock to the tip of their tails. Getting to know the breed by coloring and also by personality has been a joy to all of the artists. They lend themselves to artistic inspiration beautifully. We are exited to show you what we have accomplished! In their post to me they sent 2 jpeg files of paintings they have. If you'd like to see them, email me privately and send them to you...be patient however as I'm on the road 2-3 days at a time with my job, so am not at a computer all the time...thanks --david vanhoof Funshine Farm Fjords 9222 214th Ave E Bonney Lake, Wa 98391 253-335-8829 The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
Moses Lake show
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hey there Ron, Thank you for so strongly stating your loyalty to LibbyRon please put forth your facts and logic regarding the show locations, by e-mail and letter, long before the PNFPG Fall meeting in Yakima Nov. 4.It would be great if members could all get closer to an agreement before the meeting. Ron consider the following: 1. We owe the distant members who find it inconvenient to appear in person on Nov 4 an opportunity to comment by letter or e-mail on facts and figures you intend to put forth.Whatever facts and figures you have should not be held in a stealth manner to only present on November 4 to those who can come. 2. November 4 is to be a festive time with the museum tour and dinner and meeting of old and new Fjord friends. 3. If we wait and have a big debate about show location(s) on Nov 4, that will unnecessarily lengthen the meeting. The Chairman and Treasurer positions are due for re-election.The Fall show committee(s) need to be set up.There are details of our Moses Lake Spring Fling clinic weekend to deal with. 4. Even members who will come on Nov 4 will appreciate a chance to weigh, balance, reflect and scrutinize all points of view well in advance of the meeting. 5. Ron, we are friends and you owe it to the Riddles to allow us to apologize to the membership, very soon, for errors in our proposal, if there are any.
