2014-08-24 Thread Robin Churchill
This message is from: Robin Churchill

Hi everyone from boiling, muggy, buggy Southwest Florida,

I thought some of
you may be interested in an update about a horse that some of you followed
on a blog that was posted by Lori Albrough as she retrained him from October
2011 to July 2012. Most of you know this horse by his barn name, Levi. Levi
is a 2006 (Felix X Nagia) fjord gelding bred by Marg Kerr, and sold as an
untrained horse. He had an unsuccessful first training experience with
his first owner and her chosen trainer and was retrained by Lori Albrough. I
purchased him in July 2012 and have been working with him since that time.
After his initial adjustment period, he has made very good progress and this
weekend went to his first show--a recognized dressage show at Fox Lea Farms
which is the main show venue on the more southern west coast of Florida. We
could not be more proud of him as he won his class with a 65.5% at Training
Level with a rider for whom this was also her first recognized dressage show
! He
was completely good and did not put a foot wrong. In fact, my other
gelding who I rode in the show, and is the same age, was much more difficult,
despite having been out more than Levi. It was also Magnus' first recognized
dressage show, but he has been to a few schooling shows before, whereas Levi
had not ever been to a show of any kind before this one. We are anticipating
more success with this guy, as he really seems to take going places pretty
much in stride and actually sometimes seems to work better away than at
home. It seems to kind of  "wake him up" a bit without causing him to be out
of control. Since we started taking him to clinics and now to a show, he is
seeming to take his job much more seriously.    I have asked Lori to update
his blog with some pictures and maybe even a little video if possible, and
will post the link when the update is available.

Keep cool,
Robin in
southwest Florida

Thanks to all

Although this is not Fjord related, I would like to post something
that my son wrote on Facebook:

"Jeff Pack
My Mom Lois Pack passed away at 6:42qm this morning after a long bout
with respiratory issues. She came home from the hospital wednesday to
pass away in familiar surroundings, and not a stark hospital
environment. I can relate to that.

Anyways, I was fortunate enough to have seen her last night and say
good bye, expecting that would be last time I'd see her, but hoping
otherwise

I was afraid heading up there to the house, my last memory of her
would be her laying there on a bed all frail looking.

But when I came in, she awoke briefly, her face lit up, and she smiled
ear to ear, then returned to whatever limbo she temporarily came out.

That'll always be my last memory of her.

Be happy mom. you are in a better place now."

REGN stops on trail to have people make over her. attention w. i do
believe they learn much faster than other breeds, i attribute this to pure
breeding. i do not feed snacks by hand unless we have trailered out and they
are tied to the trailer. that is just MY way of doing things, does not mean
correct or incorrect.

people DO love the fjord. if i was a breeder i feel strongly i could have
folks in my neighborhood buying fjords. they like the way they go down the
trails, wind blowing, dogs barking etc and the fjords look at the whatever
as a simple annoyance. not to mention how incredibly beautiful REGN is.

Hi everyone and thanks for your thoughts and ideas.

I'm too old to be embarassed by the early start and I wasn't worried
about it, but I do remember that when we left the arena and went back to
waiting for the real bell, people flocked out of nowhere to converge on the
Fjord and crowded around him...sound familiar? They made much of him and Stine
Gutten just eats it up...loves the attention. He probably didn't want to
leave the group of adoring fans "Maybe there's a treat in one of their
hands?" I think his brain was focused on getting back there to all the
attention,
too.
Always a learning experience. And the judging was excellent and fair.
I am still amazed at the numbers of people who have never seen a Fjord
before. I warned my instructor (who went with me) about the inevitable
questions and attention, but I don't think she was fully prepared. We even had
a
car follow us into a gas station to ask what kind of stripey horse was in
the trailer.

Nope... ANY dun horse will have a bi colored mane (and tail) to some extent.
Fjords do have the most prominent definition of black and white in the mane
though.

Tarpan (Heck Horse): I thought Fjords were the only horses with a dorsal stripe
running through the mane, making it bi-color. I just read that Tarpans also
have dorsal stripes that give them bi-color manes (they are dun, and the stripe
runs down to the tail). There are pics and everything. What's the scoop?

Congrats to Margaret! If somebody shoots video, would love to see it. I'm a
brand-newbie to Fjords, and enjoy seeing all the ways they participate with
their riders. And speaking of posting videos...

I think the YouTube "FjordChannel" would be great - nobody I know (vets
included) had ever seen one before I got Gaven, so I forwarded the AllTech
video widely. How much more fun to have videos with Fjords as "real horses"
instead of "kid's ponies". I'm with Karen on the moderation, though - having
the videos sent to someone for approval would be a good idea.

And third in the video category, thanks for sending that Lusitano clip. You're
right - with a little creative editing, that horse could have been a Fjord...
even the crupper added to the illusion. And wow! Was that guy secure in his
seat. I can only dream of riding like that. I'm sure Gaven hopes I never learn
- she'd have to WORK. ;0)

This message is from: "ben FELDMAN"

Hello list,

I'm looking for a new home for Bryhyl Noah, who's just 9 years old. He's a
friendly, curious horse, with lots of potential; a good mover, although
sometimes impetuous. I've had him 4 years, and used him in the woods under
saddle. Have done no driving. He's entering the prime of his life just as
I'm leaving the prime of mine, though, and he's not contented to hike Granny
and the kids around the trails at a walk; he needs a younger, more active
and focused rider than I am. If interested in learning more about him,
please email me privately at bfeld...@mass.rr.com

Thanks much, and happy fjording to all!

Electric Fencers and Fjords
I have used only electric fencers and single steel wire for my Fjords for
over 20 years and would not go any other way. The only problem I have is the
occasional moose that tears it down once in a while. Even the local moose
respect it and will either jump it or go around it. The fence can be down for
several days and the horses will not attempt to cross it. They hear the
snapping of the wire on the ground and that is enough to turn them away.
For those of you who are having problems you may just need a more powerful
fencer. There are many different brands made but they are all supposed to go
by a standard measure of energy output called "joules". You usually pay an
increased price for extra power. I will not buy a fencer with less than nine
joules of power, which for quite a few years was the most powerful one you
could buy. I understand that there is a thirteen joule fencer made now. That
would knock your socks off. Several nine joule fencers state that they will
accommodate 50 miles of fence and also shock through weeds. Best to keep the
fence line clear though. The dial on the most fencers will tell you if you
have a short in the fence or the power is compromised by too many weeds etc..
I use a Parmak (50 miler) and I haven't found a Fjord yet that will test my
fence more than once.

I have NEVER seen or experienced a corgi to be a handful. Other herding
breeds, yes...for sure...borders and heelers often live up to their
reputations
as being high strung and not great with kids ( in that order )...but
generalizations are not good. These corgis LOVE people...and my "yearling"
adores
every single small person that comes along. He even lowers his head into his
shoulders and wags his tail in pleasure and submission. Howdy was never a
handful...he has been a delight. The energy that the owner puts into the dog
that makes them what they are. Just the same with horses. Its often not the
horse that is the problem. It is the human handler creating a problem that,
in return, is displayed in the behavior of the horse.
In general, I believe Corgis to be excellent dogs in every way. They are
not Golden Retrievers, nor are they a Great Pyrenees...but then again...nor
they are not blue heelers or a Jack Russell. We all have our breed
preferences...but I personally see no faults!

HELLO ALL, I SENT THIS TO ALL THE EMPOWERED WOMEN I KNOW. ( AND I MAN, HE HAS
THE SICKNESS TOO) DIANNE

The one man is me, Jerry

Love this! Doesn't it feel like summer and a little dust kicking up, the
little "fairies" dancing on the sunlight beams, the wonderful smell of horse
sweat and the satisfaction at the end of the day?

Ahh.

_ A Simple Statement "I Ride"

I ride. That seems like such a simple statement. However as many women who
ride know it is really a complicated matter. It has to do with power and
empowerment. Being able to do things you might have once considered out of
reach or ability. I have considered this as I shovel manure, fill water
barrels in the cold rain, wait for the vet/farrier/electrician/hay delivery,
change a tire on a horse trailer by the side of the freeway, or cool a gelding
out before getting down to the business of drinking a cold beer after a long
ride.

The time, the money, the effort it takes to ride calls for dedication.
At least I call it dedication. Both my ex-husbands call it 'the sickness'.
It's a sickness I've had since I was a small girl bouncing my model horses and
dreaming of the day I would ride a real horse. Most of the women I ride with
understand the meaning of 'the sickness'. It's not a sport. It's not a
hobby. It's what we do and, in some ways, who we are as women and human
beings.

I ride. I hook up my trailer and load my gelding. I haul to some trailhead
somewhere, unload, saddle, whistle up my dog and I ride. I breathe in the
air, watch the sunlight filter through the trees and savor the movement of my
horse. My shoulders relax. A smile rides my sunscreen smeared face. I pull
my ball cap down and let the real world fade into the tracks my horse leaves
in the dust.

Time slows. Flying insects buzz loudly, looking like fairies. My gelding
flicks his ears and moves down the trail. I can smell his sweat and it is
perfume to my senses. Time slows. The rhythm of the walk and the movement of
the leaves become my focus. My saddle creaks and the leather rein in my hand
softens with the warmth.

I consider the simple statement; I ride. I think of all I do because I ride.
Climb granite slabs, wade into a freezing lake, race a friend through the
manzanita all the while laughing and feeling my heart in my chest. Other days
just the act of mounting and dismounting can be a real accomplishment. Still
I ride, no matter how tired or how much my seat bones or any of the numerous
horse related injuries hurt. I ride.
And I feel better for doing so.

The beauty I've seen because I ride amazes me. I've ridden out to find lakes
that remain for the most part, unseen. Caves, dark and cold beside rivers
full and rolling are the scenes I see in my dreams. The Granite Stairway at
Echo Summit, bald eagles on the wing and bobcats on the prowl add to the
empowerment and joy in my heart.

I think of the people, mostly women, I've met. I consider how competent they
all are. Not a weenie amongst the bunch. We haul 40ft rigs, we back into
tight spaces without clipping a tree. We set up camp.
Tend the horses. We cook and keep safe. We understand and love our
companions, the horse. We respect each other and those we encounter on the
trail. We know that if you are out there riding, you also shovel, fill, wait
and doctor. Your hands are a little rough and you travel with out makeup or
hair gel. You do without to afford the 'sickness' and probably, when you were
a small girl, you bounced a model horse while you dreamed of riding a real
one.

CONGRATULATIONS to Dan and Solveig Watanabe of Olivia Farm.

Their Fall Fjord Festival drew a very nice crowd on Sept 30. In
only a year Dan and Solveig have made great progress in
developing their new farm north of Spokane. The miles of forest
roads/trails constructed by Dan provided a great tour for the trail
riders and the carts/wagons. We have a gracious group of Fjord
owners in this area and they shared their carts and wagons with
visitors who don't yet own Fjords. Some guests were treated to
a sample of driving a single or pair of Fjords for the first time in
the large open field surrounding Dan and Solveig's dressage arena.
The noon intermission for german sausages, chicken breasts and
hamburgers hit the spot. Thanks also to Mother Nature for
providing perfect weather for the day.

Hi All!!

Well, well, my, my, a friend called to talk some business and mentioned some

told him “naw”, I was not interested in what Jon Doe had to say, and
besides I like the Easter Bunny. I went on to say to my good friend, “if Jon
has anything intelligent to say about the proposal to move the Libby Montana
Show to MosesLake in central Washington, I sure am interested”!
Could I suggest to PNFPG members that the time is ripe for discussion of
changes and they can be very exciting changes which have not one dog-goned
thing to do with personalities or any one individual. We need fine
intellectual minds to prevail. We need analytical discussion that considers
history, current members and the future of the PNFPG.We need good logical
comments from all PNFPG members whom we can get to contribute politely to this
process.
We need to be less pessimistic.Remember that old saying:Think you can.Think
you can’t.Either way you’ll be right. If we stay at Libby things will go
well because of the good energy of our people or if we move to MosesLake or
even Haps, as suggested by Woody Hoopes on Aug 29, all will go well because
PNFPG members will make it go well.So relax and put your thinking caps on as
we should make the very best decision we possibly can. Acid, caustic, and mean
spirited rhetoric does not help matters but hinders our thoughts and distracts
us from the substance of this important decision. We need a logical vote at our
PNFPG November 4th meeting and a spirit of friendly cooperation before and
after that vote.
To those of you who seem to believe in “Win Friends and Influence People
through rudeness and intimidation” I have a bed-time story for you. “The

porridge is too hot and Baby bear says b, b, b, that is all I ever
hear.
At Libby I visited with a real nice lady and her curmudgeon hubby. He mentioned
that he had once tried thinking but nothing happened!Lighten up folks!Lets
THINK clearly because we will vote this issue on November 4 in Yakima.Voting
is what we do in America.

Hey there Ruthie,
You are right about my need to more carefully quote you- so I will quote
you verbatim. Ruthie writes“….I dare say UPDATING has merit as I'm sure
Genetics 101 has moved along since we were pups!” (Hey Ruthie, my mirror
lies.I am still a young pup.)Sorry Ruthie, Genetics 101 is basically the same
course as it was 50 years ago. For example the integral and differential
calculus is just the same as Isaac Newtons first dissertation on that subject
in 1650.It would be studied in any beginning course in genetics today at any
modern university!
Ruthie writes “The Fresian hypothesis indicates three indisputable FACTS to
me;” Ruthie, the main indisputable fact is that the Fresian breeders had
been unwilling to cull out the undesirable genes from their breeding
pool Now they are suffering from those bad decisions. They have serious
problems and they want to sweep these problems under the rug (so to speak) or
hide those bad genes by masking them (hopefully) with dominant healthy genes
introduced by cross-breeding.
You know Ruthie, Fjord people in the U.S. have an eval program to encourage,
not demand, the weeding out of the poorer genes. Some breeders make use of the
formal evaluations as a guideline.Others simply seek to make entirely their
own decisions to breed only the better mares and stallions. Yet we will always
have some with a mindset of wanting to breed horses with a lesser gene
quality. They argue against Evals for emotional or economic reasons. Ruthie,
you know I have several wonderful riding/driving geldings that are not
fantastic phenotypes but I will keep them and love them and make good use of
them. So I understand at least to some degree, how people can make emotional
decisions about gelding a nice but not fantastic Fjord. You have made the
decision to geld nearly a dozen colts rather than send more stallions out into
the Fjord world. But you argue otherwise. You argue as if almost every colt
should become a breeding stallion and no one stallion should have numerous
progeny. If you really believed in genetic diversity would your nice stallion
A2Z Thorson have 20 progeny by only 7 mares?Should his sire A2Z Thor have 22
progeny?Do you think it is wrong for the Fjord breed that his grand-sire,
Gjest, has 92 progeny?Where is genetic diversity practiced in your own Fjord
world?
Ruthie writes “…..As ANY animal science university professor will tell you
. . .” Ruthie, you seem to imply you have literally spoken to dozens of
animal science university professors about this genetic diversity topic.I have
not, even though in our family we have 3 WSU grad veterinarians and two of
them have taught at the WSU vet school.I ain’t never had no university
professor ever tell me Fjords are having trouble with their gene pool and/or
the Fjord breed needs more stallions. Furthermore, I sold, several months ago,
to a WSU animal science professor a Fjord mare. Yep, he paid a bundle for her
and I have visited with he and his family 6-7 times since then and they are,
of course, thrilled with such a kind, obedient and loving Fjord. (hmmm
kind, obedient and loving -- a result of inbreeding) They even
made a special trip to the Ride The West All Breed Expo to see more of our
Fjords and relate their family’s total happiness.

So Ruthie, I have had no experience with anyone but you saying Fjords need
more stallions.Even regarding the Friesian breed I have no information which
tells me that the answer is simply MORE stallions.I know of no-one but you who
has said:
“they scientifically KNOW that they need MORE stallions, not less.As ANY
animal science university professor will tell you.”

Hi Ruthie Fred and all,

A special thanks for your contributions on the gene pool (genetic diversity)
discussion of the Fjord horse!! First let me apologize to Ruthie and Fred
for not getting back to your really good comments in a timely manner. I am
sure you know by now we were up to our ears in a Fjords-only Clinic for
combined driving here at Teddy Bear’s. MmmLove those FjordsLove
those Fjord owners.

I should admit that Ruthie has encouraged me to be involved with the
discussion for the Fjord gene pool for a long time and I have simply been lazy
- preferring to spend time with my Fjords. But now perhaps the time is ripe
for me to become mentor to Ruthie and Fred.Certainly we all must admit that
Ruthie has brought some very important concerns about the horse we all
loveSylvia and I both love Gene and Ruthie and would count them as some of
the very best people in our Fjord world. We have had pleasant business
dealings with them.Even though we respect and revere Gene and Ruthie it does
not mean we agree with Ruthie’s hypothesis that our Fjord gene pool has a
lot of undesirable genetic material.
I have read and studied the Frisian retained placenta site and would encourage
anyone who has an interest is this line of discussion to study and try to
fathom how complicated all the mathematics of genetics are, especially in this
article referenced by Ruthie. I would complement Ruthie (She has a fine mind)
for going to the summary of all the extremely complicated math and statistical
analysis. It is the summary that brings the message to us that we all can
understand! But now let me respond farmer style for a second --- the
Frisiangene pool sucks big time with regards to retained placenta. The Ausie
dog gene pool sucks for a number of problems.Let’s be real blunt. Both Ausie
and Frisian breeders have a very real need to out-breed to introduce healthy
dominate genes to cover the bad recessive genes that are showing their very
ugly sucky heads !
Ruthie wrote “I am sure science has moved on past Gregor Mendel’s (1850)
work “(quoted from memory)NOPE -Ruthie, Mendelian principles are like
Newton’s laws of physics.Gravity is still gravity and will not
change.Mendel’s principals have not changed. They describe the reality of
genetics. That is why even today we call Mendel the father of genetics .Ruthie
consider viewing your personal gene pool concerns only thru the scientific
facts of the Mendelian principles. Otherwise throw science to the wind and
base your concerns on what?
Fred, thank you for taking my side on this discussion. But Fred, the way this
game is played on this site is not just to state -- “saying there is a
problem when there is not a problem”. (quoted from memory)The discussions
move forward based on logic, facts, science, perhaps some humor and heart-felt
opinion preferably devoid of personality issues. So, Fred, an
authoritative statement that someone is wrongdoes not add to this site in a
meaningful way even though you seem now to agree with me on the topic of
genetic diversity.
To stimulate conversation I may soon submit an article
tongue-in-cheek- of why we should in-breed our Fjords.Perhaps I will
follow C.A.’s format about heresy.

P. S. Quotes above are from memory and intended to be as accurate as
possible.

Hi Fred and all,

Fred, I am reminded of one of my college professors who would come into class
and bellow out “another attack against the massive wall of ignorance”. So
thanks Fred, for sharing about my formatting but you got it incorrect. The
problem is in a couple of the servers as it is a business environment and I
have not been incline, for security reasons, to make changes but perhaps in
the future.

Also Fred, you wrote under the subject line "Re: genetic diversity" something
about “man/woman” is this some kind of genetic diversity thing Some
kind of a cross I am aware genetic material is often transferred by sex
--- is that where you were going? Sorry Fred I do not get it so fill

Hey there Steve,

I guess I should apologize for referencing breeding Fjords to Zebras - you
know, Steve, I guess it was a truly stupid statement I made -- Certainly
it was intended as a joke. But obviously it prejudiced some reactions. If you
are into genetics it is really is quite funny!
I am so surprised, but, perhaps I am wrong, You wrote “ He (C.A.)is
addressing a very real problem with Aussies and many other purebred dog
breeds, not lack of members or funds, but very real, frightening genetic
defects showing up in increasing numbers in successive generations of pups”
You know Steve when people leave out the details we all may think we have
reason for concern. If C.A. had written “ 2% of our pups are having
frightening genetic defects, while in the dog breeding industry twenty years
ago the average for defects was 0.1%”, that would get my attention but when
the details are left out -- why
Next you wrote “…with an eye to maintaining sufficient genetic diversity
to eliminate it.”Steve tell me.Do good genes cure problems or does genetic
diversity cure problems? What is in genetic diversity that causes good
traits??? Answer, nothing at all unless there are good traits in the diversity
that are missing in the problem group of animals.Am I missing the point about
good genes? If we are diverse enough, do bad genes turn into good genes?
We do have quite a variety of patrons on this site and I would guess with the
exception of two people who have different agendas - everyone (Ruthie
included) would agree that the North America Fjord horse has tons of superior
genes. If we were to out-cross, what in the world makes any of us think that
in this out-cross we would only get the good genes from the mating. In a silly
example if we mate a Fjord with 95% excellent genes with a horse from another
breed with 87% good genes do you think the progeny will have 100% excellent
genes??
Here is another example. If we have a breeder whose Fjords have a particular
problem, should he be breeding them at all or turning them into pets. Why would
you even breed a “line” that had problems. If you had problems with the
offspring of a stallion or mare, why would you want to cross-breed it?How
could you even be sure that an out-cross would cure the problem? To redraw my
example, why would you cross a Fjord with 85% good traits to a horse of
another breed with 80% or 100% good traits. Why would you cross-breed the Fjord
at all? There are plenty of Fjords with 95% good traits.
OK, so it has been stated that there were severe problems with the Aussies
although we don’t seem to know if it was in 0.01% or 10% of the pups.Let’s
not just say the sky is falling or might fall in regards to Fjords.Let’s
focus. Is one of the contributors to this list asserting that there are now
actual defects in the Fjord gene pool? What are they? How often do they occur?Do
they occur at all among any major “lines” or “breeders”?So, let’s
assume one of the contributors to this list asserts an actual current
problem. What breed must be introduced into the Fjord breed to cure the alleged
problem? If there are no problems are we just “Chicken Little”?
I think in the absence of scientific details Steve, your dissertation of a
negative future for Fjords is not helpful. You are in a very difficult
position when you argue with success. I do not believe you are carrying water
for someone with a different agenda I believe you are your own man.
Steve, are we still OK or do I get cut off this site too? Warren in Spokane

PS. sorry for the boxes - this should be cleaner text

Hi I just joined and am interested in finding a Fjord to ride by myself and
grandson's. I have always felt the Fjord had a nice quiet nature.
Unfortunately I do not have the money to buy one outright as I have 18
miniatures and 1 large horse along with goats, llamas donkies etc and have my
elderly mother with me as well. I really want to find a nice riding horse. I
haven't ridden for a number of years and never could not bounce in the saddle
at a trot. Have gotten a bit chicken over the years as well. Them old bones
aren't what they used to be. I live in the Okanagan BC and am looking for
events with the Fjords or clubs. If anyone should know of any I would
appreciate the information. Look forward to talking with you.

2005-10-10 Thread BaileysFjords
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello everyone,

We have two Fjords to place. We are not dispersing, but are still trying to
place one Fjord we brought in last year for rehabilitation, plus one more we
brought in earlier this summer! Our main concern is we find these two
Fjords excellent long term homes.

Fair Acres Honni. Out of Fair Acres Sonja and by Anvil's Jon. Rudaren
granddaughter. VERY tall girl, friendly, personable, and has a strong playful
streak. She has a past leg injury so would be good as a broodmare. Her colt,
Sonny, is a dream! This is one of the mares we brought in last year that was
starved, she has made excellent progress! Has been exposed to our stallion,
Engar. $1000 NEGOTIABLE. Do not have pictures up of Honni on our website
as of yet, please email or call. PLEASE NOTE: we have had a lot of inquiries
into this girl for prospective riding or driving. As stated, we have only
focused on rehabilitating her as she literally came in starved, we have not
put
any effort into training her beyond ground manners (leading, loading, tying,
hoof care, pen manners), plus due to her past injury, we are advertising her
strictly as a broodmare.

Sivert. 17 year old stallion out of Benita and sired by the now desceased
and famous Dutch stallion, Yerxes. For pictures of Sivert and his few and
fabulous offspring, please visit our website. Also, please look at the last
Fjord Herald for an article on Signe III, who was sired by Sivert. He is the
only stallion sired by Yerxes in North America, plus has only had NINE
registered offspring!

Due to limited handling throughout Sivert's life, we are looking for a
special home for him to where his bloodlines can be preserved with the least
amount of "retraining" trauma dealt him. The optimal situation would be a
range/pasture type of breeding situation. Sivert handles fine for farrier and
deworming. He is terrifed of needles, although a blindfold works beautifully.
 We
would not suggest considering handbreeding him as he simply has not had
enough handling in his earlier years to manage well in hand. Sivert's price
is
VERY good to a qualified home, and has been further reduced! His price is
$2000 or if one opted to do a partial payment plan over three years, the price
would be $2500.

Sivert's tremendous bloodlines should be preserved, but he needs an
environment to where he is allowed to do what he does best; breed mares without
 a lot
of human interference.

We have routes planned to Ontario, Illinois, New Hampshire, and North
Carolina this month. We can deliver either of the above kids along this route
for
a very reasonable and reduced price.

Please email privately or call for details about these Fjords!

Thanks much,

My name is Kathryn Bauman. I'm from New Glarus, WI. where I own and operate a
Riding School/Training Facility and also breed.
A couple of years ago I bought a young stallion from Green Valley Farm. His
name is Odin and is a wonderful son of Fernando! He's like a Gentle Giant, a
big, bold, teddy bear. We really love him! We havn't used him for breeding
yet. I just started riding him recently and want mostly to concentrate on
getting him going and out. He's a people pleaser so its pretty easy!
I compete in Dressage, and jump a bit.

My husband and I have looked at moving a bit more south for a number of years
now and are starting the process. We are listing our property and have an
accepted offer in Tennessee where I will also build a school.

I wanted to mention this to the list in case anyone was looking, or knew of
someone looking for a well established
property. We have a large house that would make a great two family, bed and
breakfast, or lodge. It has six bedrooms, three and 1/2 baths, two fireplaces,
large family room and living room, as well as lots of other space (over 4000 sq
feet!).
We have a beautiful 17 stall barn with three tack rooms, a warm water wash
stall, bathroom and more! Its heated as well! AND we have a really NICE
indoor arena. Its 70X152, insulated, with rubber/sand footing(perfect!) and
tons of mirrors!
I have some good photos on my web site (www.pvalley.net) although there are
none there of the house. It will be on the MLS soon.
Its a great business property with an established cliental and lots of
additional opportunities.

email me if you or anyone you know are interested in looking. ITS PRICED WAY
UNDER WHAT I BELIEVE ITS VALUE REALLY IS @ $569,900.

Hi Gayle,

I thought I'd follow up my inquiry - I'm very serious about finding a nicely
bred WELL BROKE fjord mare about that size. My dream is to drive pair :-).
I bought an 8 year old mare and I was told that she was well broke to ride
and drive, I'd seen a video of her, but when I got her she was very hot and
reactive and brainless. She didn't have the patience and experience that
I'd been told. I sent her up to Don Eckhardts for two months of training
and he got a solid groundwork foundation on her, (he said she knew nothing
and was totally green) and she does well in pair now, but she still is
hotter than I really want. She is sweet otherwise, but I'm thinking I'd
really like to find a calmer mare for my pair. My other mare I got from
Dave McWethy, Elska, is wonderful. Picture enclosed of Korina at the
recent Bill Lower clinic.Your help and advise is appreciated.

Thnx,
