TSC (Tractor Supply Co.) carries the Ariat Terrain. See
http://tinyurl.com/5mto4f for a huge list of other sources, including
State Line Tack, Dover Saddlery, Zappos, Sheplers, etc.

It's good to be able to buy the shoe in person or from a source that
makes returns easy (Zappos comes to mind), because I think the shoe runs
a little long and on the wide side of medium width.

I normally wear an 8 1/2 size, but I buy the Terrain in 7 1/2. I also
put in a Dr. Scholl's arch support insert to take up a little space and
add some more cushioning.

Do the Terrain boots go by another name. I cannot
find them.

I like the Ariat Terrains for summer and the Ariat
Terrain H2O waterproof and
insulated for winter. Right now Crazy Horse tack has
a sale and free shipping:
That is where I buy all my Ariats. The Terrain H2O
insulated boot is great
for Alaskan winter temps (I don't ride in the -0
temps.) Crazy Horse has them
for both men and women. Crazy Horse tack:

I have a pair of Mountain Horse lace-up boots that are waterproof,
well-insulated and VERY warm. Not so comfortable for walking or doing chores
in as they are kind of "clunky". It says "metal shank" on the bottom, might
be why they seem cumbersome to me. Also have a pair of Ariat lace-ups, with
gore-tex for waterproofing and are insulated, these are most comfortable.
Lastly I have a pair of mens Ariat cowboy boots that are waterproof but not
insulated. Because they are big, I wear warm thick socks and this
combination has become my favorite for cold weather rides. Quick and easy to
clean-up in our wet, muddy climate too. If I weren't trying to save the
Ariat lace-ups for more public horse events, I'm sure I'd wear them more.

Hi all,

I have a question for all of you that ride in the winter. I had a pair of
winter riding boots that I wore for years and wore them out so now I'm
looking to buy new boots and would buy the same ones that I had but
they're not being made anymore. What brands do you all recommend, what
are the pros and cons of the ones that you all have?

Thanks for your help and info,

Hi,

I use Mountain Horse Rimfrost boots, they are wonderfully warm, have toe
protectors built in and the soles are patterned to fit stirrup treads
securely. Not the cheapest on the market but well worth the outlay.
