Re: Silent Fjords, Jealous Fjords
This message is from: Dianne White [EMAIL PROTECTED] Draako does show a jealous side to him as well. Heaven help me if I take his next door neighbor out first (oh please, he's just a quarter horse, why should he be first). And if I have been away for a few days, or longer, he will snub me for awhile until I finally win him back over. He is a funny guy. Dianne and Draako (oh please let me back out to the pasture. I'm sure I could find a blade of grass somewhere) - Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage. The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
Re: Silent Fjords, Jealous Fjords
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Joe will whinny occasionally when he sees us arrive at the barn. And both Joe and Della will whinny if I take the other one away (which seems weird to me since Joe continues to seem like he mostly would like Della gone - apparently he only wants her gone on HIS terms). I've never heard them make a sound to the other horses even in wild or rough playing, or when other pasture mates are taken away. Not sure I have heard either of them nicker. It'll be interesting to see how this changes over the years. Joe has a strong jealous streak, and becomes quite pissy when Della goes out to play and he is left in the pasture. It is not unusual for him to give us the cold shoulder when we return, refusing to come up and eat unless we coax and plead (bear in mind that this boy always comes up, often at the trot, when we appear). Della calls when we take Joe and leave her, but never exhibits that kind of jealous behavior and is always happy to see us when we come back. Kate with Joe (who has more personality than I do) and Della (who is apparently the person I want to be) **See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop000304) The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
RE: silent fjords
This message is from: Jeanne [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have three fjords. Hanne RARELY even nickers. If we are late on dinner, she'll maybe do a low, nicker. My other two, however, are so loud. HayLee will even wake the neighbors, she whinnies so loud. In fact, both HayLee and Tirra whinny so much, that my parrot, Winsten, whinnies like BOTH of them. He does both whinnies very distinctively!And... if you pull one pony out of the pen, he can see out his window, and will start whinning like the one left behind, before she starts up!
