Carol,

When we had Percherons years ago we used to keep their manes roached for 
neatness. We found that if they were used hard, like on a mower, that the 
collar 
rubbing on the hair stubble would cause sores. So, I would not advise clipping 
the mane under a collar; just hand split the hair as best you can so it isn't 
bunched where the collar lays.

Hi,
Does anyone, who uses a neck collar, trim the mane in the area it rests 
as you would do  for the bridle path?  Hers is all flopped over there 
from the collar now and I  was just wondering if this was a good idea.
