RE: [Flashcoders] AS 2.0 Tweening libraries

I've used TweenLite and TweenFilterLite in a couple projects -- ease of
use was an issue in the prototyping stages and small file size was a
benefit in deployment.

Works as advertised and well worth a look!

To each his own. I've got nothing against Fuse specifically (or any
other
tweening engine), but TweenLite might be worth looking at because:

Not sure if this is what you want, but check out the JTS Topology Suite.

Here is the user's guide - The Polygonizer class may be in the ballpark
of what you desire

This is not a Flash library (it's Java), but it is available for

I might be pushing my luck here, but is there some similar magic piece
of code which can transform a collection of lines to a single polygon
line? (So i can use the linegeneralization code below) I have a large
collection of random lines which have a lot of overlappig start/end
points. The only dinkytoy way I can think of to combine these into
polygons is to take point 1, look through the whole collection for
matching points, take point 2..etc.

The way too global searchterms i can think of to use for googling brings
up everything but related stuff.

layout="absolute" width="400" height="300" creationComplete="display()">

The CheckBox class extends Sprite. It contains an icon (instance of
another class that draws the check box icon) and a label. After
creating these elements, the constructor calls

addChild(__icon);
addChild(__label);

Flasm is a good start,

I had a client experiment with this one and he was pretty pleased. Don't
have any personal experience with the product, though.

Re: [Flashcoders] Math.random()

what you do with the random number to produce a dice roll is more

Here is a link to get you started,

http://www.gamesgrid.com/backgammon/faq-rng.html

a Google search will probably turn up more info as well, although doing the
right thing with poor input still produces substandard results in the end
-- especially if you or your client is accountable for the quantitative
aspects of the game, which includes the statistical qualities of a RNG,
process for producing a shuffle/dice roll/etc., and the means for
introducing entropy into the process. Back in the early days of F7, I ran
a couple industry-standard tests on Math.random() and the results were
sufficiently poor to convince me it was not worth running any more
tests. Math.random() hides the seeding process from the programmer,
meaning that you have no control over entropy. Even if you have a perfect
algorithm for producing a dice roll or shuffle, you can not make an
argument for the fairness of that game that is in line with standards
currently in practice for online casinos. If you don't need to meet such a
standard, that's fine, but consider your level of accountability before
selecting a method of approach.

Gamblers always complain about dice rolls even if you use real dice.

How many times have I done that at the craps tables :) This is, of course,
why the gaming commission insists on rigid tests for 'fairness' of casino
dice. Also why online casinos go to such great lengths to reassure patrons
of the statistical qualities of their shuffles/dice rolls/etc.

good luck!

Do not use Flash's Math.random() for any serious gaming application. As an
alternative, consider  http://magicsnacks.com/shiftedpixels/?p=8
