Re: [Flexradio] questions?
As the KB administrator I am making a global request for information. Over the past few weeks, there have been a lot of e-mail like the one listed below for info on getting PowerSDR CAT working with other programs. I would like to start collecting this information for the KB. If you have one of these third-party programs working with PowerSDR, please send me some details of how you were able to get it working and I will post it on the KB. What would be even better is if you wrote up a small description (you can add screen shots too) in either MS Word, OpenOffice, or HTML, that will facilitate getting it published and will result in fewer "translation" incidents. Leon, I do not have my SDR-1000 available (it is on its way back to Austin for a little repair that was idiot inflicted so I can't test this out easily. Hopefully someone else will be able to help you out and will be able to contribute to the KB as well. -Tim FRS KB Administrator -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of N5PU Sent: Friday, May 25, 2007 10:07 AM To: FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] questions? [Flexradio] Power SDR 1.8.0 keeps crashing
I'm playing with Power SDR 1.8.0. No radio hardware. Win XP Home + SP2 + all subsequent updates. Under certain (unfortunately unreproducible) circumstances, when I change the VFO A frequency (by typing a new frequency into the box), the panadaptor display disappears, replaced by red diagonal lines, and a popup error message appears, saying an "unhandled exception has occurred ... overflow or underflow in the arithmetic operation." Re: [Flexradio] Power SDR 1.8.0 keeps crashing
Ian, No real need to un-install version 1.6, but I would recommend to create a new database and not import the old database from 1.6 until you find out what is going on. Just as a point of reference, you can create a new database anytime by renaming the "PowerSDR.mdb" file that is in the program directory and restart the console, PowerSDR. 73, Dudley WA5QPZ FlexRadio Systems 512-250-8595 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: <http://www.flex-radio.com/>www.flex-radio.com At 11:06 AM 5/25/2007, Ian Wade wrote: >In message <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, >"Dudley (WA5QPZ) Hurry" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes > >Ian, > > > >I presume that you have the "Demo/None" radio button selected.. > > > > > >73, > >Dudley > > > >Yes. > >Also, as I am not using an external audio card, I have "Unsupported >Card" selected for "Sound Card Selection". > >A thought has just occurred to me. [Flexradio] Report on SDR-X v1.9.0 SVN 1194
Working great! I have a remote-base SDR to listen to myself, thanks to Stew, W4MO. I mainly work Meteor Scatter and weak sig work on 6 meters. The RB is 20 miles from me. I used all setting that I run on SVN: 1175 (Non-X version). Upon listening to my audio on the RB as I transmit, I have found that I had to re-adjust the Mic Gain, the COMP and the CPDR controls. The setting that I used on the SVN version seems to be too hot for the SVN-X version. I use settings when running Meteor Scatter and weak sig with my lable of "War Mode" I use the COMP and the CPDR in this Transmit Profile. My SDR1000 has not crashed and burned. The NR really works great in SVN-X. Thanks Bob! 73, Dave, W9DR -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Flexradio] FWIW Vshaper VAC and SDR
For What it's Worth -- In the HPSDR forum at Dayton, a brief mention was made to Vshaper (Voice Shaper) I think with respect to the Uwave SDR project. I looked interesting so I tracked it down ( http://www.dxatlas.com/vshaper/ ). Written by VE3NEA, it has a 7 band graphic equalizer, graphic display of noise gate and clipping level, a built in record /play back for evaluation of mic adjustments w/wo QRN & QRM. Initial I installed in and selected the D44 mic input 3/4 as the input and the computer sound card as the output. After playing with it a bit, I reconnected the to output to VAC Channel 1 ( and thus the VAC input on Power SDR ). After playing a bit with the levels, it drives the SDR ok Except... Except there is several hundred milliseconds of latency through the path from the mic , thru the VAC, to the SDR output. Desiring to figure out where the delay was, I tried several alternate test cases using Vshaper, VAC, and the Audio Repeater that came with VAC. The Audio Repeater is the inverse of the VAC.. It connects to two Sound Card like devices and passes the bit stream through. The following test conditions had little ( 10's of millisec ) delay. mic > SC > Vshaper > SC > speaker mic > SC > Rptr > SC > speaker mic > SC > Rptr > VAC > Rptr > SC > Speaker mic > SC > Vshaper > VAC > Rpt > SC > speaker ( The audio repeater is configured with Sampling rate at 48000 to match the D44 sampling rate and Total Buffer (ms) set to 100 . ) The following test conditions had several hundred millisec of delay mic > SC > Rptr > VAC > SDR > speaker ( SDR in monitor mode ) mic > SC > Vshaper > VAC >SDR > speaker I could find nothing on the SDR setup page for VAC that had any noticeable effect on the Latency thru the SDR.I would seem to me that the SDR latency thru the VAC path should be less ( not more ) than the normal mic to SDR output latency. SDR1000 (100 watt pa) sdr v1.8.0 FA-66 192000 buffer 2048 VAC 4 Wattmeter in the SDR say 35 +-watts. Wattmeter inline with antenna says 40 +- watts. 30 meters DIGL running WinWarbler in rtty (obviously afsk) 1.0K filter selected. In VAC sample rate 12000 buffer 512 RX Gain -2 TX Gain 1 To my ear, it sounds good, worked stations report it's clean My concern is...the display when transmitting does NOT appear symetrical. the peak containing the mark/space goes off the top of the scale. and is slightly to the left of center. Picture is better than my ability to describe. http://www.qsl.net/w9ol/rtty.jpg http://www.qsl.net/w9ol/wwrtty.jpg So am I doing something wrong? if so for contesting, I want the cleanest signal (loudest also) I can put out. What suggestions do you guys have. - Used properly, facts can ruin any good idea. - Bill H. in Chicagoland webcams at http://76.16.160.118:8080/ weather at http://hhweather.webhop.org ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
Re: [Flexradio] digital wave form when transmitting
I would suggest monitoring the TX Meter set to Mic. Make sure that your input is not exceeding 0dB. Other than that, it would have to be a display level calibration issue. Consider a single peak of height 1... It could look like 0,0,1,0,0 (if at bin 3.0) Or, it could look like: 0,0,0.5,0.5,0 (if at bin 3.5) Or, like: 0,0,0.75, 0.25,0,0 (if at bin 3.25) Jim ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
