First off, what version of VAC and PowerSDR are you using?

inside the SDR or external to it to replace the Flex supplied TCXO that is
presently in the radio. This equipment comes complete with all cables ready
to hook up the radio to your PC. Sorry, I will NOT sell these items
separately. Price: $1,000.00 plus $15.00 for shipping and insurance.
Check, M.O. or PayPal will be OK. Reason for selling: Need the $$ to put
towards a Flex 5000. All serious inquiries gladly answered.

Re: [Flexradio] Frequency Question

2008-04-13 Thread Dudley Hurry
Don,

I think that you covered up the Window that says where the recording was
stored in, you have to say OK to it, you were tuning, so it went
behind the PowerSDR console, as long as that splash window was setting
there with the OK on it, you would not be able to tune the radio..
This is so that it doesn't suddenly jump frequency as you finish
recording, which might leave you wondering where you were..

I just found another issue. I am using 1.10.4 PSDR and after I record
for a while and stop the recording I can not change the frequency. I
can change the frequency in VFO A and I can change the frequency on the
panadaptor, however, the actual signal will not change. I was recording
a signal on 3.865 lsb. I then clicked the record button a second time
in the WAVE window so it was no longer highlighted and thus no longer
recording. I then tried to change frequency and was all the way up to
3.944 yet I was still hearing the qso on 3.865. I even used the AB
button where the b vfo was set to 7.223 and I was still hearing the
signal on 3.865. Only when I actually change bands did the problem go away.

I am using SVN2129 and I am trying to understand the frequency being
displayed in MixW and HRD/DM780. I have the RTTY offset disabled and
the frequency in VFO A is set to 7.10 and mode is DIGU - in this
case for psk. The display on Mixw shows 7097.8 when it should show
7100 since that is the displayed frequency on the F5K and the red line
indicates the same on the panadapter. I have to go into mixw pttcat
and set the digi cat correction to a -2210hz for the digi offset
(actually any mode offset) then the frequency display indicates the
correct frequency which doesn't make a lot of sense. For rtty using
digl I have to remove the cat offset in mixw in order to get a correct
frequency readout on mixw when RTTY offset is enabled for 2125 in digl.

HRD/DM780 indicates the correct frequency when operating psk - 710
matching the VFO A on the F5K and when I enable the RTTY offset at
2125 the display on HRD reads 7102125 as long as the mode is set to
digu which is what I would expect since rtty on HRD/DM780 is done is
usb mode, however, the frequency display in DM780 now starts at 7102125.

Re: [Flexradio] Record and Playback

2008-04-13 Thread Dudley Hurry
Don,

The PowerSDR software has the ability of recording the IF of the radio,
which in the default settings of the Wave is exactly what it is doing,
the bandwidth of what the sample rate is.. Remember the radio is
really the front end of what we would think of in a normal radio. The
computer is the IF, detector, and audio processing of the radio System
.So thinking in terms of IF , you are not recording a
signal/frequency but more like if you were looking inside a radio and
tapping in front of the IF section of a normal radio, we will call that
Pre-Processed or before the IF, detector, and audio sections
(computer) get hold of the signal. So we record that and play it back
later, we still have to process the signal to get it into audio that
our ears can detect. So when you record as Pre-Processed, that is an
IF signal and when you play it back, the IF does not know what frequency
it was recorded on, but that it is just IF signals, so you can tune
around inside the bandwidth of that IF signal according to how wide it
was originally recorded..
Now if you wanted to play that back into a transmitter, you would play
it back as a Post-Processed, reason it's an IF signal that the radio
itself can understand...
OK that is for an IF signal, but what if you wanted to record a QSO and
play it back on the air?? Then you want to record the audio, not the
IF, so it would be Post Processed, or after the audio was generated,
and play it into the transmitter as pure audio or Pre-Processed audio
like a recorder into the mic jack.. These are Options in the Wave
window (Options is in the upper left hand corner of the Wave window)
.. Pre-Processed for receive and Post Processed on transmit for
recording IF signals that you can play back later and mess around with
the settings, or Post Precessed on receive and Pre Processed on
transmit to record and play back just the audio sections of a QSO.
Hope that wasn't too confusing, you'll get the hang of it..

I was playing around with the record and playback option. I am using
SVN 2129 and also 1.10.4 of PSDR. I made a recording using SVN 2129
from the front panel, however, when I attempted to play it back I had to
change the frequency just slightly so I could see the signal on the
panadaptor. It also appears to be playing back like a signal on either
side of the CF...in stereo? I also attempted to record via WAVE. and
when I played it back 15 minutes later it played, however, I made
another recording and attempted to play it back right away I had to
slightly change the frequency and then it started to play back with the
same signal on either side of the CF. When I do play back and I click on
the signal to center it (psk and I use 1500 as the CF) the playback sort
of stops - the signal is no longer present - yet the play button is
still highlighted, is this normal? It is a nice feature, however, I am
not sure if I have encountered bugs or what.
