Re: [Flexradio] Fw: Videos of Flex on touchscreen and Tmate
I think you also miss that Beppe's setup has two pieces of equipment, the touchscreen AND the Tmate. Touchscreens are not fantastic for fine-grained tuning pecially if you are ham fisted such as myself!) and thats where the Tmate shines. Take a look at the bottom right of Beppe's screen as thats where the control panel for the Tmate is. It shows Frequencies of the radio as well as the current assignment of the Tmate buttons. It doesn't take up much screen real estate (since no one mentioned it) and has Beppe's fantastic sense of style. As soon as the Bobsmeter is released for PowerSDR, someone will write a KC article (heck I will!) that gives you a step-by-step procedure for hooking it up to your radio! 73 Neal Campbell Abroham Neal Software www.abrohamnealsoftware.com (540) 645 5394 NEW PHONE NUMBER Amateur Radio: K3NC Blog: http://www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/blog/ DXBase bug reports: email to ca...@dxbase.fogbugz.com Abroham Neal forums: http:/www.abrohamnealsoftware.com/community/ On Fri, Apr 2, 2010 at 9:13 AM, Mack wrote: > Frank, > > I believe this is excellent advice. Re: [Flexradio] Fw: Videos of Flex on touchscreen and Tmate
Frank, I believe this is excellent advice. I want to add the touch screen for the wow factor when I demo the Flex to clubs or when folks stop by my shack which is dozens of people a month. I believe so strongly in the Flex that I want to show it in its best light. For example, I'm doing a presentation on station automation and software radios to the Southeast DX Club later this month. This club has some of the best DXers in the world and I want them to come away saying WOW! But, I agree with you. Now, if you said you had or wanted a stack of 5000A's I might be jealous! You know, a person like myself who has his operating position as a 1950s Contour Chair with caster-mounted base, motorized recline, electrically heated for early morning operation in a chilly shack before the wood stove gets up to temperature, adjustable massage and who prefers a 32 inch monitor with only the Flex panel appearing on it, I would really find it awkward to use a touch screen. I did add a little pivoting table to hold the mouse, straight key and beer glass for right arm operation but I will admit that I have no desire to look like some kid wildly reaching around to operate his I-Pad. 73 Lee K9WRU - Original Message - From: "Ray J" To: Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2010 9:03 PM Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Fw: Videos of Flex on touchscreen and Tmate >I doubt thats necessary.. you can find 19" touchscreen add on kits are >available for around $130 > > > w9Ray > >> http://www.nfarl.org >> http://www.sedxc.org >> >> >> >> ___ >> FlexRadio Systems Mailing List >> FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz >> http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz >> Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ >> Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: >> http://www.flex-radio.com/ >> > > ___ > FlexRadio Systems Mailing List > FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz > http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz > Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ > Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: > http://www.flex-radio.com/ > ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-rad

I don't think I could afford the Windex and paper towels if I got a touch screen. Re: [Flexradio] Fw: Videos of Flex on touchscreen and Tmate
Mack, you can simple add a touchscreen to PC dedicated to your Flex. There are many monitors available on market today, take a looks to ACER and SAMSUMG last models. I'm playing now with a SAMSUNG LD220G HD, on a two years old PC ACER Intel QuadCore Q6600 and W7 32Bit. It works perfect, and with no apparent CPU increasing. I find very interesting the 3D desktop as CubeDesktop, you can place many application on the sides of the cube, making a useful working area for PowerSDR/LOG/Internet/ecc ecc 73 Beppe IK3VIG At 02.27 02/04/2010, you wrote: Before I go buy one of the touch screen computers like Beppe shows in the video I'd like 100% confirmation that it will work as shown in the video with PowerSDR. Beppe, anyone? I'd just like to be sure before I plunk down $1600 or so.
