[Flexradio] Computer for Flex 1500 specs.

2011-03-10 Thread George Osier

My thanks to Neil for the first list of specs !!!

But seeing that the 1500 uses a bit less of your computer (no firewire ,
all USB) I would like to max out performance with something made to play
well with the 1500. How many core processor ??? , How fast of a
processor ??? How much L3 cache ??? Hard drive ??? , RAM for Win 7 64
bit ??? Which Asrock motherboard ??? Just a computer to run SDR and
nothing else !!!

And thanks to Neil for his help with my 1500 !!! It went back to Dallas
for possible hardware issues. Now its Flex withdrawl time .. hihi

Re: [Flexradio] Computer for Flex 1500 specs.

2011-03-10 Thread Tim Ellison
The 1500 is not going to make an ATOM processor sweat much. Anything you get
that is multicore is already enough.

CPU rule of thumb: get the most L2/L3 cache you can afford.

64 vs. 32-bit? Not really an issue with PowerSDR. It can affect other
third-party hardware and software you might want to use. 32-bit is the most
compatible.

For PC specs, ask Neal.

Ray,

I've verified this issue and you are indeed correct. The default values on
the CWX form are not working well. We'll get this fixed in the next
revision, but if others are having the same trouble, I would suggest moving
the Drop Delay to 300 (default is currently 100). This worked well on my
development setup.

Subject: Re: [Flexradio] HRD

I loaded and ran R2 last night and once I got my CAT port number correct my
HRD 5, latest release ran fine. I had to drop back to PSDR 16 to get the
correct port, but all seems to run fine in HRD.

Are you sure that CAT and virtual serial ports configuration is ok?

Mine appears to work ok. I don't ever remember changing the drop value but
mine is set to 500.

Ray,

I've verified this issue and you are indeed correct. The default values on
the CWX form are not working well. We'll get this fixed in the next
revision, but if others are having the same trouble, I would suggest moving
the Drop Delay to 300 (default is currently 100). This worked well on my
development setup.

 3. CW via CWX is SERIOUSLY broken here. I have to go back to v2.0.19RC1.
Transmitted signal is okay at 7 wpm or less. It is erratic at 8 wpm or
higher. The following observation was made listening to MON with
 headphones
while sending at 22 wpm via CWX into a dummy load on 12m: If you ignore
 the
tone listen carefully to the background noise, it appears that the noise
level is pulsing in the correct timing rhythm for the CW being sent, but
 the tone heard is random.
