[Flexradio] strange problem with f5k.
Hi, I'm having a problem with my 5k. I've bought a flexknob, and upgraded to RC3, I don't know if this problem has anything to do with it. In powersdr, when tuning, the receiver seems to get stuck on 1 frequency .The frequency displayed still changes, but the bandscope doesn't move anymore. This happens not directly after startup but after some time. And it only effects receiver 1, the RX2 keeps on working. I've already tried uninstalling all com0com ports and reinstalling powersdr, but no result. Any ideas ? 73 Jan. Re: [Flexradio] frequency
A problem with the Russian standard frequency stations like RWM is that they usually don't transmit a continuous carrier but at some short periods. Most of the time they key the carrier on and off with the 1 pps or 10 pps pulses, quite difficult to use then for fine receiver calibrations so you must wait until the carrier is steady on. I used to have a schedule but Is lost it some time ago. Re: [Flexradio] frequency
Hi Ignacio Ok with RWM and how it does the trick. I found the schedule here: http://www.irkutsk.com/radio/tis.htm /Erik A problem with the Russian standard frequency stations like RWM is that they usually don't transmit a continuous carrier but at some short periods. Most of the time they key the carrier on and off with the 1 pps or 10 pps pulses, quite difficult to use then for fine receiver calibrations so you must wait until the carrier is steady on. I used to have a schedule but Is lost it some time ago. In powersdr, when tuning, the receiver seems to get stuck on 1 frequency .The frequency displayed still changes, but the bandscope doesn't move anymore. This happens not directly after startup but after some time. And it only effects receiver 1, the RX2 keeps on working. George, Not a cheap crystal -- just a cheap ionosphere...hi..hi. While the transmitted frequency is dead on, the received frequency of signals from WWV does vary slightly with propagation. Re: [Flexradio] Elecraft KPA500 switching ideas with a Flex-5000A?
I was able to find a transfer relay on ebay a year or so ago that does what you suggest. Unfortunately I haven't seen any since. It has four N connectors, call them A,B,C,D. When the coil is unenergized it's A-C, B-D, when energized with 24 volts it switches to A-D, B-C, straight-through to cross basically. I'd like to find more of these but the one I have is only marked with an FAA part number which I have been unable to resolve, and presumably only good to about 100 watts based on contact size. Perhaps someone knows where to source relays of this type? -David K1FSY On Wed, Jul 13, 2011 at 8:17 PM, vtnn...@comcast.net wrote: I am considering getting the Elecraft KPA500 amp for use with my Flex-5000a but need some suggestions on how to wire it to my antennas. The problem is that the KPA500 only has one input so I could only send one output at any one time to the KPA500. So the question is does anyone on the list have any suggestions how I can do the following? Most of the time the amp would be routed to the 80 – 10 output that goes to the SteppIR vertical. But some times it would also need to go to my stacked 6M loops. But I would like to find a switch(s) that lets me have both anternnas active all of the time with one port going to the amp and one going to the other antenna that would let me switch to the alternate antenna at any time. Re: [Flexradio] Click_Tune
Click Tune is dependent on the Tune Step and mode. Depending how close you click tune to the signal of interest, it will tune to the strongest signal withing the frequency range of the Tune Step setting. If you are tying to Click Tune SSB signals that are ~3K wide and the Tune Step is only 50 Hz, you will probably not get Click Tune to properly tune to the SSB signal's suppressed carrier frequency. SSB signals need a Tune Step value of closer to 500 Hz to 1 KHz. I place the yellow cross-hairs near the suppressed carrier part of the SSB signal where the signal strength is the strongest to Click Tune SSB signals. -Tim --- Tim Ellison, W4TME Internet Systems Admin. While the transmitted frequency is dead on, the received frequency of signals from WWV does vary slightly with propagation. The frequency averaged over a period of time will be accurate, however. Or, not so much. It is quite interesting to monitor the frequency of CHU for long periods of time. (WWV isn't as good as you get both WWV and WWVH on the same frequencies and you get interesting interference effects.) I have seen doppler shifts of several Hz, and smaller shifts that have persisted for minutes. So, yes, if you average over a REALLY long period of time, days probably, you will get accurate data. But if you only average over minutes, not so much. There is probably something wrong with me but monitoring CHU for hours and plotting the frequency variations is one of my favorite passtimes. I have learned much about what the ionosphere does to a signal. Spectrum Lab analysis of frequency is also enlightening because it highlights the spectral broadening and sometimes spectral splitting. (Differential doppler on different paths can produce multiple spectral lines from a single carrier.) This is one of the really cool things about having a radio that is so accurate and stable in frequency. -- Brian Lloyd, WB6RQN/J79BPL 3191 Western Dr. Cameron Park, CA 95682 br...@lloyd.com +1.767.617.1365 (Dominica) +1.916.877.5067 (USA) ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

Re: [Flexradio] Click_Tune
Thanks for reply and information Tim. I had that idea about the 50Hz for Tune Step. On RTTY -as I show on the dump- would you click in the 'valley' between the two mark and space signals ?. I ask, because I think I have tested all possiblities without getting the right method. /Erik Click Tune is dependent on the Tune Step and mode. I stand corrected, they are still on ebay, and are not 310C00100. I use it to switch between two 2 meter radios before two amplifiers so I can easily switch between the horizontal and stacked vertical yagis. While I have also used it briefly @ 100 watts HF with out blowing it up, I don't think I'd use it after an amp. http://cgi.ebay.com/COAXIAL-TRANSFER-RELAY-RADIO-ANTENNA-AMPLIFIER-BYPASS-/190554617415?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item2c5df0b647 On Fri, Jul 15, 2011 at 12:32 PM, David McKenzie k1...@vhfwiki.com wrote: The one I have looks a lot like 310C00100, but the price on ebay was only $35 :) On Fri, Jul 15, 2011 at 12:24 PM, Richard Clafton rclaf...@riroc.comwrote: Found this http://www.surplussales.com/relays/rfcoaxialrelays/rfcoax_n.html -- Richard A Clafton | the brITish guy | W5\G7EIX RIROC - Hosting - Development - Technology http://www.riroc.com | rclaf...@riroc.com PugHearts of Houston Pug Rescue | www.PugHearts.com -Original Message- From: flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz [mailto: flexradio-boun...@flex-radio.biz] On Behalf Of David McKenzie Sent: Friday, July 15, 2011 11:16 AM To: vtnn...@comcast.net Cc: Flex Radio Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Elecraft KPA500 switching ideas with a Flex-5000A?
