[Flexradio] HELP WITH VAC

2012-07-11 Thread K0DAN
Is there someone who can mentor me with VAC? I have been reading docs, trying
examples from the Flex WIKI, doing trial-and-error etc., but still can’t get
audio I/O using VAC (V.4.12). Frustrated!
I am pretty sure VAC is working, since I can see activity in the VAC Control
Panel.
I have set up two virtual audio cables, and have corresponding cables defined
in PSDR, also in whatever software apps I happen to be trying. The buffers all
match and setup parameters are copied right out of the docs and WIKI articles.
I have tried the MME and other drivers, doesn’t seem to make any difference.
When tuned to signals, the software doesn’t decode anything, nor can I modulate
a signal. When trying to pipe audio to/from VOIP apps, I can’t generate any
audio nor hear anything coming back.
What I want to do:
a) Get any basic packet or RTTY program running with PSDR/Flex, then use this
as a “template” for experimenting with other digital mode software.
b) Want to use PSDR/Flex as my single source for audio I/O for other VOIP apps.
My balanced mic audio goes into my Flex 5K, and the PSDR audio output goes from
the F5K to an external stereo amp/speakers. This works fine as a voice
transmitter/receiver, but something is not set up right using the Flex/VAC as a
virtual sound card.
c) I would like to tap off Flex/PSDR and run audio I/O to 3rd party VOIP
applications such as Skype, TeamViewer, EchoLink, etc. I have tried all the
audio I/O selections I can find but still can’t talk/hear with the digital mode
software, nor hear using VOIP.

I think my problem is failure to define proper I/O device on the 3rd party
software. Seems simple but I can’t make it work.

Help? Suggestions?

Thanks and 73,

Dan (K0DAN)

Re: [Flexradio] Must turn on PSDR twice

Thanks, Mark.

I fixed mine with a simple workaround. I just open the FlexDriver driver
application and select 96K before clicking the START button.

Re: [Flexradio] Play Button

2012-07-11 Thread Patrick Greenlee
If you put PSDR in demo mode can't you then use any of your pre-recorded
files as input in place of off the air signals? Or alternatively, I haven't
got a clue, don't realize it, and should be quiet when the big kids are
discussin' stuff.

I believe this feature is designed
to playback over the air so requires you to be transmitting.

I've been using Audacity to play the quick file. Also is there a way to
change the storage location of this PSDR audio file?

Re: [Flexradio] Play Button

2012-07-11 Thread Tim Ellison
The Quick Play and record buttons on the front panel are for recording
off the air and playing back over the air, so you have to have the radio
transmitting before the PLAY button is activated.

Use the WAVE form for all other types of recording.

Re: [Flexradio] Trying to improve DPCLAT, now SDR crashes

2012-07-11 Thread Bob McGwier
I agree! GBoost is a well done tool for performance geeks, mostly gamers,
who count every cycle and know more than we ever could about how to squeeze
your machine AND give you control over how far to go and a Meter to show you
how well you've done.

I am not sure how good it would be for hunting down a DPC bad actor
driver/hardware.

I used it on my old AMD dual core laptop and it ran Flex 5000 at 192000 for
the first time ever.

Look at using Gboost for performance tuning as opposed to manually
turning off services.
