Re: [Flexradio] 2.6.4 issue

2013-05-01 Thread Ulf Holt
Hi Jim.

I had the same problem with my 5000A. Turned out to be the FireWire driver.
What OS are you using? I'm running Windows 8 64 bit and forgot to install as
administrator. Reinstalled starting the installer using "Run as". This solved
the problem

[Flexradio] 2.6.4 issue

2013-05-01 Thread bearcreekcattery
I had been running 2.5.3 until my hard drive crashed. Made sense to me
to install 2.6.4 at this juncture. It seemed like the download went as
it should have and my 3000 is recognized. When I attempt to run the
program, a see a pop up window that tells me I need to update my firmware
to continue. That's curiousI have the latest 3000 firmware
installed. When the update option is selected, I receive a message
saying it's complete and that I should restart Power SDR. It just keeps
"looping around itself" repeating the same updated needed message, never
allowing me to go beyond that point. No joy! What's the workaround for
this?

That is also a very good idea!

I run PowerSDR many hours a month in testing computers and I have never

Thanks, Guy. Will check the hard drive (though it is brand new) and
the drivers. I don't think it's the anti-virus, as it is Avast and I
know several other Flexers who use it without problems.

Maybe a fresh install is called for, too.

Still working on it,

Re: [Flexradio] Constant database corruption

2013-05-01 Thread on4amg
A very good one Neal, if you do not mind I'd like to add to also advise Kevin
to double check the memory configuration settings in the BIOS.
I remember having an occasional corruption problem usually followed by a BSOD
for which I could not track down the cause until I found out the memory
configuration settings in the BIOS were not 100% correct (w hen in doubt select
the 'auto' setting).

Kevin

You might check the memory sticks. I doubt strongly that reinstalling will help
(although its easy to do so feel free). If you run a disk check and it comes up
clean, its not disk so either the motherboard is wacko (and it would be evident
as you would have things falling apart all over the place) or the memory has a
back stick and when/if PSDR stores data there it gets corrupted.

Onderwerp: [Flexradio] Constant database corruption

I recently installed a Flex 5000 at a friend's station -- PowerSDR
2.5.3, Windows 7, i5 motherboard, 16 GB, TI firewire chipset.

The rig works beautifully when started up, but after a day or two,
sometimes less, PowerSDR crashes (it doesn't stop responding, but
the radio loses its ability to transmit or receive). Before it
crashes, odd things happen:

1. Receive bandwidths get reset to odd values, for example 3.4 kHz
gets set to 100 Hz or sometimes plus and minus 2 kHz. No pattern,
just seems crazy.

2. Received signals get an odd and continuous "buzz modulation" --
this only happened once.

3. Transmit bandwidth settings get changed or become unadjustable.

Several other things change too, but there's really no consistent
pattern -- just crazy values seem to creep into many settings. RF
ingress isn't the culprit, as refraining from transmitting doesn't help.

A database import clears the problem -- for a day or two, then it
starts all over again.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kevin, WB4AIO.
