[Flexradio] WSJT-X V1.1 JT65 JT9 combo receive and transmit version Flex Radio use.
Hi Ernest, I have not contributed to the software effort of WSJTX other than to provide a bit of feedback to K1JT. I am a user of the program and upgrade whenever a new version is available. All praise for the program goes to K1JT, the team of software contributors and beta testers. I am copying the list for the benefit of others. I am running the software with a Flex-5000A. I have RX2 installed in my Flex-5000 but that should not matter as I am only using the primary receiver with WSJTX V1.1 in the below example. I have had successful QSOs on JT9 with the new software. A couple of things I do that may make a difference before starting WSJTX are listed below. Make sure your defaults under the Windows Control/Sound setup are 48000 for any of the VAC channels you are using. The V1.1 users manual mentions this also. I always made sure my PowerSDR Setup/Audio Sample rate is 48000 when running the program. I have my buffer size at 2048. Be sure to change the sample rate while PowerSDR is in STOP mode. I use the PowerSDR VACs set to Windows WDM-KS with buffer = 2048 and Sample Rate = 48000. Sometimes when I push the START button after a sample rate change, the Panadapter will show no activity and I will have to Stop and Start again using the button. This has nothing to do with WSJTX. I set VFO A to the desired base frequency. I set my receive bandwidth from 200 to 5200 Hz.. I have setup a TX Profile called JT65JT9. I have the filter set for 500 Low and High set to 2500. I have the extra 500 Hz to make sure no roll off occurs at the edges. In particular, WSJTX will transmit using a base audio frequency of 2000 Hz and JT65 is about 200 Hz wide. There is no reason to set wider as WSJTX only transmits audio from 1000 to 2000 Hz using the base audio frequency. It does this by using SPLIT and transmitting with VFO B and changing the VFO B frequency as required. This profile does not have DX or CPDR enabled. No EQ of any kind should be required. With VAC use the TX should be flat. I select this profile. I select DIGU mode. I always copy VFO A to VFO B after setting the parameters for VFO A. I do this before starting WSJTX. I then select SPLT and the VFO B TX buttons. I have seen instances where the mode for VFO B is different from VFO A and in fact you can do this on purpose. Check the mode buttons while you are transmitting with VFO B to confirm they are as expected. That is one reason I do the copy. I select split mode with the PowerSDR SPLT button. Although not required, I run DXLab Suite software. WSJTX supports the Commander rig control module. I start DXLab if not already started. I start WSJTX. The current JTALERT does not properly support V1.1 of WSJTX. A new version is in the works. I would normal start JTALERT here. JTALERT is a very nice add on and interfaces WSJTX to DXLab DXkeeper log module. JTALERT uses the log module for previous QSOs checking and logging. I operate WSJTX as described in the V1.1 manual. Let me know how it goes. 73, Bill NJ1H On 7/6/2013 4:52 AM, Ernest Garcia wrote: Bill, It appears that the transmit portion of JT9 is having an issue. JT65 is working okay. Early this morning I was still testing and a KL7J called and told me he was seeing my transmit signals on JT9 with no problem, but no one else was able to confirm seeing what I was transmitting. [Flexradio] Correction: WSJT-X V1.1 JT65 JT9 combo receive and transmit version Flex Radio use.
Do not select PowerSDR SPLT button a second time as shown below as that will put TX back on VFO A. VFO B is used for transmit. Sorry about that. 73, Bill NJ1H On 7/6/2013 12:39 PM, Bill Bordy, NJ1H wrote: Hi Ernest, I have not contributed to the software effort of WSJTX other than to provide a bit of feedback to K1JT. [Flexradio] Help for CW keying in Wintest needed
Hi all I have a Flex3000 and up to now I've used N1MM with it just fine using the guide at http://flexradiowiki.abrohamnealsoftware.com/mw/index.php?title=N1MM To recap, a pair for Com7-17 and 8-18. CW on Com7. In N1MM I use Ctrl-K and pre-programmed F-keys for most of my QSOs, so don't use any interface to key the rig and send my CW, and that's how I've done it for about 3 years, and I'm happy with this. I now have Win-Test and I have CAT control working on Win-Test but I am not sure what I'm missing to get CW keying working from the Alt-K menu. Here's my config: Com7 - Network 9800 8N1 pin4 = CW, RTS = Always Off, Active with: Both radios Com8 - Radio 1 96090 8N1 pin4 DTR = Always off, pin 7 RTS = Always off, active with: Both Radios Radio 1 = FT-2000 Radio 2 = FT-2000 The above setup is to mirror as closesly as I can the settings from the Wiki and N1MM settings. When I key CW (ALT-K - the Wintest equilavlent of N1MM's Ctrl-K) nothing happens. No PTT, no sidetone. As I say, I do not have a Winkeyer or Microham module or similar. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. Re: [Flexradio] Help for CW keying in Wintest needed
Hi Doug Good point about the FT2000. I misread that as Ts2000. That said, my starting point was to set radio 1 and 2 as Kenwood HF and had no luck there either. Thanks for the hawkeyes but no cigar as yet. Other suggestions still welcome (or a Wiki section for Wintest. BTW I am using Wintet 4.10 (licenced) and PSDR 2.3.5. Re: [Flexradio] Flex5000A blown preamp..?
Can I purchase the SBF-4089 devices from Flexradio or their dealers...? Say, Radioworld..? Hi all...It appears that I have a blown pre-amp in my 5000A. Can someone tell me the part number or device type etc. for replacing the blown device..? Any help or info greatly appreciated... 73...Jordan VE6ZT Hello Jordan, A little research tells me that the SBF-4089 is obsolete. It was designed as a CATV low noise amplifier. It was replaced by the ASL550, which has a lower noise figure, unfortunately, it, too, is obsolete. The ASL550 was replaced by the ADA1 which has an even lower noise figure, more gain, and better performance specs. The ADA1 is available through one eBay seller at this link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADA1S24Q1-Manu-ANADIGIC-Encapsulation-SOT-89-Lin ear-Amplifier-MMIC-Data-/120920876463?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADA1S24Q1-Manu-ANADIGIC-Encapsulation-SOT-89-Li near-Amplifier-MMIC-Data-/120920876463?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item1c2772 25af hash=item1c277225af There may be some USA distributors, but thus far I have not located any of them. The ADA1 comes in two package styles, the S3, a modified 16 pin SOIC, and the SOT-89, which is an S24 Package. You want the SOT-89 device for your F5K. Note that both the ASL550 and the ADA1 require the use of 8 volts rather than the lower 4 to 5 volts for the SBF-4089. Using a lower voltage on the ADA1000 will probably result in slightly lower gain and a lower upper frequency response, but since the F5K stops well below the upper frequency limit of the ADA1, that should not be a problem. Other than the supply voltage, the ADA1000 should be a drop-in replacement for the SBF-4089. BTW, the ADA1 is a drop-in replacement for the ASL550 which was used in early (yellow label) PDI-110R-6KV CATV amplifiers. The new version (blue label) PDI amplifiers use the ADA1 in the S3 package. [Flexradio] PowerSDR V2.5.3 and AM - carrier level still not right???
I have a Flex 3000 and run it with PowerSDR V2.5.3. While using 6m AM I noticed that with just carrier the output on the screen said 50 watts. I then used a Bird watt meter and a dummy load and again got 50 watts. I expected it to be 25 watts because in setup it shows 25% carrier. Is this a known bug? If I change the 25% to 12.5% will it fix the problem?
