[Flexradio] PSDR v2.7.2

2013-12-17 Thread Ron Kolarik

I just did the upgrade, all went smoothly including DT.
I'm getting some pretty bad flickering on the waterfall and
panafall displays, changing frame rates has no effect.

Re: [Flexradio] Offering of a new solution to SDR-1000 users

2013-12-17 Thread Bruce Mills - KL7JDR

Only 3 Days Left !

Dear SDR-1000 users,

Let me present a new solution for you.

It is called USB2SDR, is ready-made and whereas so far it was used in
homebrew rigs, now by including the top notch ADC AK5394A ADC having 123dB
dynamic range and additionally a dedicated controller specifically for
SDR-1000 DB25 interface, comes to you providing seamless operation.

As the name indicates, it has a USB connection from your PC to your SDR rig
setup.
USB2SDR, gets in between your PC and SDR-1000 rig, it replaces any plain
audio card you currently have, with a dedicated SDR DSP designed device,
and from then on all functions of your radio are controlled from a USB port
of your PC.

USB2SDR is a DSP device designed from radio amateurs for radio amateurs and
gives to current SDR-1000 users the ability to fully utilize rig's
abilities and give a boost at maximum in the performance of their radio.
All that with an easy to setup total solution as it handles and solves both
control interfacing and ADC.

ADC/DAC configuration is 4in and 4out concurrent channels, and the latest
PowerSDR v2.5.3 for SDR-1000 will be given, additionally ammended,
including USB2SDR in the supported list so you will have ease of setup.

So your radio will get a single device offering control via USB, the
ADC/DAC for I/Q and Mic/Speaker will also be via USB, all of them in a
single cable connection between your PC and USB2SDR. USB2SDR will have and
handle all other connections to your rig, the control interface to DB25,
the I/Q ADC/DAC, the audio mic/speaker and the CW key.

Dedicated drivers are implemented for that device, bypassing any windows
audio buffering and latency.

All windows environments are supported, W7 and W8 in 32 or 64 architectures.

Your familiar application, PowerSDR v2.5.3 will be there, yet now you will
be given the opportunity to have operation from all modern PC's or laptops
as they all have a USB 2.0 HS connection available.
And do that now with the increased performance of 123dB dynamic range from
the powerful AK5394A at full 192KHz.

The offering comes from the USB2SDR Indiegogo campaign here
-> http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/usb2sdr-software-defined-radio-startup

For any information you can contact me directly or post in the powersdr-iq
Yahoo! group here

Here is what I found. If you make the mistake of attempting to start
PSDR-DT while PSDR is running it pops up a message telling you that you
must close PSDR first. If you then click cancel, close PSDR and attempt to
start PSDR-DT again it will open but the Setup Data is wiped out and the
Setup Data URL is gone. If you try to reenter the URL it won't let you do
it. Maybe there is a magic key combination that will let you do it but I
haven't found it and without it you are up the creek without a paddle.
However, I found that the setup data is stored in
C:\ProgramData\FlexRadio

Windows 8.1). Keep a backup copy of that file so you can replace the bad
setup data with good data and you are back in business.

P.P.S. A couple of nice features, they run on 12V so if you are using a

Yep, you are right. The premap annunciator is not being updated
correctly on band changes. I have written this up as a defect and put
it into the PowerSDR bug tracker.

Thanks for the report.

Here's another:

1)For 20 meters and 15 meters, set Preamp to "Pre2"
2)Go back to 40 meters and make sure its still on "Pre1"
3)Go back to 20 meters and notice it says "Pre1" (even though you
left it at Pre2)

4)Go to 15 meters and notice it changes to "Pre2"
5)Go to 20 meters and notice it now says "Pre2" like it should.

Conclusion: The display of the actual preamp setting seems to no
coincide with actual setting. Anyone else see this?

Re: [Flexradio] SDRDataTransfer No Longer Available

2013-12-17 Thread Ronald G. Parsons
Just swallowing a huge serving of Humble Pie

I fixed up 2.6.4 so it would work with the new FireWire driver and loaded PSDR
2.6.4 on both Flex-1500 and Flex –3000. I could have sworn that I had adjusted
the EQ on the 1500 (in fact I’m sure I did) but now the EQ on 2.6.4 on the 1500
on my new transmit profiles is flat. Can’t explain.

So ... there seem to be NO transfer problems from 2.6.4 to 2.7.2 at this site.

Subject: Re: [Flexradio] SDRDataTransfer No Longer Available

I followed Dave’s lead and did the uninstalls and installs. Then ran PSDRDT
going directly from 2.6.4 to 2.7.2. During the beta, I had transferred 2.6.4 to
2.7.0 to 2.7.1 to 2.7.2.

This time all went well EXCEPT the EQ on the Flex 1500 on the new 2.7.2 was
flat. I would swear that the EQ on the 1500 on 2.6.4 was not flat as I had just
created the new transmit profiles on both the 1500 and 3000 and they all were
not flat. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. The transferred EQ on the
3000 was not flat.

And again, as I had reported before, on the 1500, when I first changed the
transmit profile, the MIC gain was incorrect. This corrected itself and a later
load of the transmit profile.

No error messages appeared.

I just checked mine and noticed the same thing -- three instances of PSDRDT
and three instances of PSDR corresponding to the beta installs and 2.7.2.
The date on the .exe file for PSDRDT was 12/12 which did not correspond to
any of the beta install dates but was probably Ray's last compile.

I think Ray should check to see if a prior instance of PSDRDT exists when a
new one is installed and remove the old one (or at least ask the person
installing).

However this arrangement did not cause me an error as far as I know, but I
think I'll follow Dave's lead and uninstall and reinstall just to make sure.

Couple of observations

I ran PowerSDR-Datatransfer on a second database and got the errors as
described by Alan originally

Went to uninstall PSDRDT and found I had three instances in the programs and
features menu (probably from installing beta releases leading up to 2.7.2)
Uninstalled all 3
Uninstalled PSDR 2.7.2
Uninstalled SDRDataTransfer (Ray's version)
Rebooted
Reinstalled PSD 2.7.2
Did the conversion from 2.6.4 to 2.7.2 (worked fine)
Tried another conversion during the same session , worked now
Closed PSDR DT
Reopen PSDR DT and conversions worked.
Rebooted and was still able to do conversions, no sign of original error

Tried both standard and expert modes.

Sure hoping for some ideas/fixes.

probably what did the trick. Now it seems to be working fine. That URL

So (he enquired meekly) is it safe for us mere humans to upgrade to the new
PSDR release yet or should we wait for the wailing siren signal to proclaim
the "ALL CLEAR" pattern?

Anything besides blind obedience to the instructions required?

OK, following the lead of ON4AMG. I am not a beta tester so I had only one
copy of PSDR2.7.2 and PSDR-DT. However, I uinstalled and reinstalled both.
This time I ran PSDR-DT before doing anything else and selected Options. One
difference I noticed immediately was that the Setup Data URL box now had a
URL in it while before it was blank. So I did the Update Setup Data and this
time it worked indicating that there was a more recent version of the Setup
Data which I installed. I then started PSDR 2.7.2 and it came up correctly
with default settings. So I closed PSDR and restarted PSDR-DT and updated
the settings from V2.6.4. It went smoothly this time and all seems to be
well. I have no idea why it didn't install correctly the first time but
that's the story. Now to investigate the new features of V2.7.2.

Thanks for the tip Guy!

What is your sampling rate and DSP buffer sizes? If you are using a high
sampling rate and large DSP buffer, try a lower sampling rate and/or smaller RX
DSP buffer size and see if it makes a difference.

I have noticed this same effect in previous releases but it is
significantly worse in the latest.

2013-12-17 Thread J. Reed
Hello, after changing my SDR version to the latest, I've noticed that my
Automatic Notch Filter is just
stuttering rather than notching on my Flex 5000.

Re: [Flexradio] SDRDataTransfer No Longer Available

2013-12-17 Thread on4amg
I uninstalled the PSDRDT utility and ran the entire PowerSDR 2.7.2 setup again.
Made sure to update the PSDRDT utility first and then exited the program and
ran it again, everything worked fine this time around.
All settings seem to have been carried over (although the log shows some error
entries in the bandstack part).

HOWEVER this only worked once (as reported by others), running the PSDRDT
utility a second time, all previously checked fields were unchecked (blank)
again, producing the errors already reported.

PowerSDR 2.7.2 itself is fully functional however I have not been able to do
any testing yet.

Onderwerp: Re: [Flexradio] SDRDataTransfer No Longer Available

I am not a beta tester though I had Ray’s old program installed. I have
removed it after the upgrade, which did not retroactively solve the problem.

Gents:

I am getting the same errors as reported by others. Did the "update setup
data" prior to trying the first time to do the transfer. That worked the
first time, but on second try got the " PROCEEDURE: UpdateSetupData ERROR:
Converting from string "" to type 'Date is not valid." Error as well.

Tried both standard and expert modes.

Sure hoping for some ideas/fixes.

That said, this looks like a nice PSDR upgrade. Glad Flex is still working
on keeping this product line up to date.

Standing by here. :)

Tim,

Guy sent you the program update error. Here is the setupdata error. I
trust you will forward it to Ray. :)
