Tim and all at Flex, My thanks to your support of the Amateur Community with
your products! The new 6300 really tripped my trigger and it is with great
anticipation I wait for conformation on shipping my order next Monday. I
suspect this will be a home run for Flex and the those that add them to their
shacks. Since getting a 1500 2 years ago, I have never enjoyed watching radio
so much! Steve W1TAV

Subject: [Flexradio] FlexRadio Systems Introduces the FLEX-6300 Signature
Series SDR
Date: Fri, 09 May 2014 00:36:20 -0400

Austin TX, - May 9, 2014: FlexRadio Systems today announced the addition
of the FLEX-6300 to its FLEX-6000 Signature Series line of digital
direct sampling transceivers. With an introductory price of $2499, the
FLEX-6300 offers the serious amateur an affordable entry point to
multi-dimensional amateur radio operations from CW to the latest digital
modes.

The FLEX-6300 is for the amateur who wants to experience the magic of
software defined radio in the highest performance 100W transceiver
family available today. Providing dual panadapters and waterfall
displays, as well as two full-performance slice receivers, the FLEX-6300
opens up new operating capabilities at an affordable price. With the
included Digital Audio eXchange (DAX^(TM)) digital software interface,
operators can use digital modes with no added cables, interfaces or
sound devices. And the optional user or factory installed $299 Antenna
Tuner Unit (ATU) provides for operation in conditions where antennas may
not be resonant.

Each FLEX-6000 Signature Series radio is built on a direct sampling
receiver foundation. By removing analog mixers and components, the
FLEX-6000 family provides and ultra-quiet reception experience, ensuring
you can see and hear the weak ones. The companion direct digital
up-conversion transmitter creates the purest transmitted signal
available, putting the "clear" in "loud and clear." All of this is built
on a network-ready Ethernet platform ensuring high performance today and
compatibility for the future.

The FLEX-6300 is available now with shipments starting May 12, 2014. For
more detailed specifications visit our website at http://www.flexradio.com

[Flexradio] Be prepared for 2nd hand radios for sale

2014-05-09 Thread Tim Ellison, W4TME

This is just a proactive friendly reminder.

One of the allowed practices on the FlexRadio reflector isthe ability
for Flex owners to post their FlexRadio products for sale and for
perspective Flex owners the ability to solicit list members looking for
second hand FlexRadio Systems products (wanted to buy or WTB posts).
With the recent announcement of the FLEX-6300 Signature Series SDR, we
have learned that there may be an increase in these kinds of reflector
postsin the coming weeks. For your reference, here is the exact excerpt
for the reflector guidelines that is applicable to this subject

"Commercial postings are allowed only if they relate to FlexRadio
products, SDR, home brewing related to SDR, building etc. and are of
interest to this list's membership. Please keep them as short as
possible and provide web links to more detailed information. The
reflector moderators will step in if we feel someone is posting too many
messages of this type. Promoting freeware products that enhance the
FlexRadio experience is encouraged."

Because this is an allowed practice on the reflector, receiving these
types of posts via the reflector is not SPAM and should not be treated
as such. Spam is unsolicited e-mail. By joining the reflector via a
double opt-in process and accepting the reflector guidelines, no post
received from the reflector is actually unsolicited and therefore is
technically not SPAM. Please do not reportreflector posts of this
nature as SPAM, as that may jeopardize our ability to maintain this
reflector.

Also as noted in the guidelines listed above, the reflector admins do
monitor this reflector and will intervene if WTB and "For sale" posts
get excessive or start showing up for products that are not allowed by
the reflector guidelines.

As per the CAN-SPAM Act, FlexRadio ensures compliance by providing a
link at the bottom of each reflector e-mail for you to voluntarily opt
out of the FlexRadio reflector by canceling your reflector membership if
you no longer want to receive reflector posts. All you have to do is
access the reflector membership page and enter the e-mail address you
are subscribed to in the blank at the bottom of the page to access your
account settings. Once logged in, you can unsubscribe to the
reflectoror choose to temporarily stop receiving reflector posts.

Thanks for allowing me the bandwidth to share this QST. I hope everyone
has a wonderful weekend.

Re: [Flexradio] SPLIT Setup

Go to Setup, General, Options. Check "Disable Split on Mode Change" and/or
"Disable Split on Band Change". I think this will do what you want.

OK. I'm tired of being embarrassed when I QSY bands and finally realize I'm
still transmitting on the pileup frequency back on the band where I used to
be.

Shouldn't SPLIT clear when changing bands? Is there a setup option I'm
missing?
