[Flexradio] Ant tuning anomaly

2008-05-31 Thread George Bennett
When tuning (using an external Palstar Auto Tuner) my Flex 5000A has recently
begun to take three or four seconds to confirm a correct setting, that is one
with an SWR of 1.12 or below. If I am running barefoot this isn't a problem.
However, when using an amplifier, it causes a serious problem in that a high
SWR with the attendant high reflected power is erroneously signaled thereby
causing the amp to shut down and the 5000A to freeze.

I have checked the tuner with another setup and it is working as it should. I
have confirmed the cables and connectors are functioning correctly.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

George Bennett, K1GMB

[Flexradio] Major dropouts on 5000A

2007-12-11 Thread George Bennett
I was having major dropouts on my 5000A after having a 100% problem free
experience with it since setting it up several weeks ago. The difficulty began
last Saturday when I started the software. The panadapter would show a normal
pattern, then within 2 to 3 seconds show either a flat line slowly rising or a
very slow and expanded pattern of the band noise level.

After trying different bands, different antenna cables and connections,
different antennas, older software releases, rebooting everything, etc etc I
called Flex this AM. I spoke with both Gerald and Eric. It was determined
within a very few minutes that my problem was software related - not hardware.

Following Eric's instructions, I installed, then ran, the DPC Latency Checker
which showed an extreme problem with max latency over 13,000 us. After
disabling individual drivers (using the Device Manager) I discovered that my
recently installed Linksys Wireless-N Notebook Adapter WPC300N was causing the
problem. After enabling the other network adapters and disabling the Linksys
the max latency dropped to between 8 and 12 us.

For those of you considering upgrading your wireless capability to 802.11N
using Linksys you may either disable your wireless device when operating the
radio or change your operation mode (mine is Safe Mode 1) to Safe Mode 3.
Either action will give you dropout free receive.

Thanks to Flex for another example of GREAT service.

[Flexradio] USB Device Not Found. (-4)

2007-07-05 Thread George Bennett
I receive the above message when I attempt to fire up my SDR 1000. I am using
Beta v1.9.1 SVN: 1320

Does anyone else have this problem? After experiencing this problem I updated
my TortoiseSVN, checked and reseated connections, unplugged and replugged both
the Edirol and SDR-1000 and restarted my computer.

Thanks for any help and advice,

Thanks for the quick response; however, that doesn't work either - for me at
least.

Click (press) it with your mouse roller, not the mouse buttons.

[Flexradio] Connection to Alpha 87A

2006-04-14 Thread George Bennett
I want to connect my SDR-1000 to an Alpha 87A amplifier. Page 15 of the ma=
nual states The Common Protection Diode (pin-8) should be connected to the=
positive lead of the relay power supply. This will shunt the reverse volta=
ge from the relay coil as it is turned off, thereby protecting the control =
transistors from transient voltages. I'm afraid I don't know what that me=
ans. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks,

[Flexradio] ShuttlePro

2006-02-17 Thread George Bennett
I have just received my new SDR-1000 with the PreSonus Firebox and ShuttlePro 2.

Has anyone suggested a setup for the ShuttlePro? I haven't found anything
concerning the use of this with the SDR-1000 other than the manufacturer's
recommendation. I hate to reinvent the wheel if a set of instructions already
exists.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

A very useful feature for us avid am'ers would be a way to reverse the audio
phase 180 degrees somewhere before it gets to the modulator.
I tried checking the delta 44 in3 and in4 boxes for phase reversal but it made
no difference.

The difference in modulation positive versus negative going audio is dramatic
when using a good mike and audio chain, especially with the excellent low
end available with the sdr1000.
