[Flexradio] (no subject)
Hi All, I recently lost RF power on my Flex5000A in digital and SSB (CW was OK) modes. With Dudley's help we traced the problem to an upgraded file (msadox.dll v 2.81.1117.0 was changed to v 2.81.1128.0 at the suggestion of a program, Secunia, used to flag old, insecure files). I had successfully used this update for several weeks before I installed updates for all occurrences of this file on my system(total of 8). Then the RF disappeared. I immediately replaced the file with the older version but the RF problem was not cured. I had to register the file with Windoz before PowerSDR would use the old file (via Run, then "RegSVR32 (path)\msadox.dll"; the file being the older version), just replacing the file did not work. Much of this was thanks to Dudley's analysis. The RF power then returned to normal. I thought this may be of some help to those of you having problems attributed to PowerSDR because PowerSDR is not always the culprit. Make sure to check MS Windoz for any detrimental changes as well. [Flexradio] Blue button blues
If you have not had a problem with the blue button, then go on to the next message, this is of little import. On the other hand if when you turn off your 5k sometimes the light goes out right away, sometimes in a minute or two or sometimes not at all, read on. This is not an obscure electrical problem that requires a firmware update but a mechanical one. When the button is pushed in and down at the same time, a shoulder on the button shaft catches on the bodywork and stays pushed in and electrically turned on. The solution is clear. Don't turn your 5k off while standing (my problem) or if it catches, gently push up on the button to disingage the shoulder and the button will pop out, turning your 5k off. Walla. A senior moment problem is solved. Dudley, Tim and Doug, Shifted from demo VAC to registered VAC and the lines in the PSK waterfall dissappeared. Changing the AGC setting had no effect. Thanks for the help. [Flexradio] Flex 5K /VAC operation with PSK
I too have seen the problem of horizontal lines in the waterfall of several programs (HRD, multipsk, Digipan) when rx ing PSK. [Normal PSK operation is still possible.] When PowerSDR is turned off, then exited while leaving the PSK program running (and disconnecting the firewire from the computer) the lines are still present in the waterfall.I suspect these may be caused by the voice message installed in the trial version of VAC. Does the registered version of VAC (without the voice) still show these lines? When the virtual com ports are deactivated the horizontal lines dissappear. Has anyone verified the source of this problem?
