I have been trying to set up Spectrum Comuunications TRC4-10dL with Flex 1500 When I set it up, I get "out of Band message", I though this was fixed a long time ago ,has it slipped in to recent versions of Powersdr again? [Flexradio] UK 60 meter band any comments from the experts
Hi, Is there still no solution to the UK 60 meter band problems in 2.3.5. Is it a mater of editing database file..I have tried with little success. We have 7 allocations in the UK most of which are different than the US. I tried adding 2 xtra to the bandstack and modifying the settings for the band text and adding 2 additional ones. It worked ok in previous versions but not in 2.3.5 What have I missed or do we need another Firmware update for the UK Help! (Nice people at Flex) please. I have loaded 2.3.5 and it is all working very well. I just was wondering , I had my firmware upgraded for uk 60 meter allocation. I tried modifying the database to work with 2.3.5 but failed miserably. I managed this for 2.2.3 and it worked fine with all 7 uk channels. Totally agree with Neal regarding hercules mp3 controller. I use it in conjunction with mimo monitor and fxpad. and it gives the flex another dimension. I picked the hercules up for a great price on auction site and it is also available through the maplin outlets in the UK. It would be nice if someone could design an overlay for the hercules to reflect the Flex controls. All in all a great piece of work by the designer. Hi Roger, Just a thought , did you disable the onboard firewire adapter and firewire ethernet, when you were trying it? Hi John Downloaded svn from your location and got trunk v1.81.1 SVN 3153 I set up mic gain as usual using MIC on meter. then looked at ALC COMP but couldn't get meter moving of bottom stop I am using PR781 into front of 5000A. The important words are new generation amd and intel chips I have tried this and it only runs on chips that support virtualisation.. Unfortuantely my AMD x2 4600+ does not. so if your processor is older than a couple of years this is not a lot of use to you.. but fortunately Powersdr runs fine with W7 but their are still problems with coms drivers if you want to play with HRD etc.. cheers paul GI4FZD. I am also having the same results, vcom does not run and com0com locks up after a few minutes. I didn't have a lot of time to try different settings in com0com..maybe it's buffer settings or baud rate related, I was trying it with HRD at 57600 baud when the coms fell over. I have just loaded the 64bit version of windows 7 build 7100 and powersdr is running happily at the minute. Again replaced the IEEE1394 driver with the legacy one.. So It seems to be no problem with both versions ie 32 and 64bit when you use the legacy driver. So Its looking promising for Windows 7 a much superior and less bloated OS than Vista.. IEEE1394 is using the Via chipset.. go into control panel then click on the little arrow beside the words control panel at top of screen select "All control panel items" click on the system icon then choose device manager..top left dvice manager opens..click on little arrow beside IEEE 1394 bus host controller and you will see your controller. right click on your host controller and select update driver select "browse my computer" then select "let me pick from a list" you should see a driver with (legacy) at end of the name choose this and install it.. [Flexradio] Running Powersdr on windows 7 beta
I at last managed to get Powersdr running on Windows 7. I was having problems in the fact that the Flex Firewire driver appeared to be working ok but it wasn't communicating correctly with powersdr. When I ran Powersdr up it took about 5 mins to read eprom and then stopped communicating with the Flex 5000. In order to get it running I had to go into control panel /system and update the 1394 driver to the legacy one and it seems to be working ok, I havn't tried Vac or coms yet. I will try them over the weekend if I get time.. [Flexradio] Flex running on hp2133 netbook
I have noticed lately that more and more notebooks seem to be lacking firewire ports and was looking for something small to run the Flex 5000. Most of the little netbooks come with 4 x usb ports..so when I saw that the HP 2133 had an expresscard slot..I decided to get one to play with. I plugged in 2 way firewire xpress card and I am running the flex ok at 48K and 2048 buffers.Any higher than this and it has problems. This particular model has a 1.2mhz via processor and seems to run Ok when the wireless networking is switched off. There are ones with 1.6 mhz processors which should perform better. The processor is running at around 70% when running powersdr but it seems to cope ok..as long as you do not want to run anything else at the same time. This will make a handy station when working from my mobile home.. in the summer..if we get one next year!! I am not sure if this is a problem, but I installed this new firmware and my tune level went up to about 30Watts. I reverted to version 12 and it dropped to 10Watts again.
