[Flexradio] fldigi error fixer

2011-01-15 Thread WA7HYD
I remember awhile back someone mentioned a program that when ran between other
programs reset all of the serial port assignments and release hooks that may
have been left by poor programming. I used to run it and QuickMix as I switched
between programs, which saved a lot of fooling around. However I cannot
remember the name of the program for the life of me.

[Flexradio] USB Cable

2011-01-02 Thread WA7HYD
I've seen comments that the supplied USB cable should not be changed.

I assume this is because the Ferrite Bead on the radio end of the cable is a
requirement of the manufacturer, rather than conductor flip-flopping which
would make it something other than a USB cable.

I need to add length to the cable, but about four feet, so my question is can
a USB extension be added to the computer end of the supplied cable without
creating a problem?

The coax entry is in one inside corner of my (bedroom) office, and the computer
is in the same wall, outside corner. The USB cable is a lot easier to string
than the coax and DC power lead.

[Flexradio] I'm a fledgling Flexer

2010-12-31 Thread WA7HYD
I'm new to the lists, just signed on today in fact.

The timing is perfect to wish everyone who is an established Flexer, to those
gathering information before Flexing their wallets, plastic or lines of credit,
a very Flexible New Year and and a prosperous run of QSOs.

Coming from a background of digital mode communications, and an growing
interest in QRP, the Flex-1500 seemed to be the perfect fit for me. I will be
able to pursue WAS QRP on all bands, and switch to the digital modes for a
change of pace, still in a QRP setting.

I guess I have missed the method of implementation of the digital modes. Does
the PowerSDR software generate the digital modes of operation or is it similar
to operating HRD in the background with DM-780 doing the actual digital
programs?

I've got a lot to learn, and need to glean an enormous amount of information
from available sources in a relatively short period of time.
