Perhaps not. But using a high-pass filter on the audio passband is fairly
common with FM transceivers. Most repeaters do not transmit their CTCSS
tones. Some do. And in some cases the CTCSS tone transmitted by the
repeater is not the one necessary to open the squelch on the repeater's
receiver. On some FM receivers a CTCSS tone is obvious, especially the ones
higher in frequency.

So, yes, Flex could make a tracking audio notch filter but that is quite
unusual.

In the mean time, have you tried using the 10-band EQ? ;-)

Did you try using the 10-band EQ to knock down the audio spectrum below
250Hz? Yes, I know that is a hack but it might make it tolerable.

No I have not. It likely would work. However I think a "Flex" could do
better then that. It only should filter out the particular PL tone
rather then a large frequency range to maintain quality base tone
reproduction. Also I don't like to having to use different receive
profiles for FM repeaters with and without PL tones. It becomes messy
at best. It would also give Flex an edge up in clarity. I don't think
it would be hard to implement.

Re: [Flexradio] U/V sub-audible tone problem

2012-09-22 Thread Lee Mushel

Gentlemen,

Out of respect for Flex Radio's quality I fasten one of my "retired Hi Fi"
systems to the 5000A so I can hear below 40 Hz and any carrier noise is
quite apparent (which also makes it easier to compensate for my age-related
hearing decline) and noticed this on one of the local repeaters. I made
several nasty comments during QSOs with others and, magically, the problem
went away. Of course, that is only my solution to one special problem.
Is this limited to only one CTCSS tone? More than one repeater? I live
where I have to contend with three tones.

John

I've never noticed the issue here, I do a lot of SAT work with SO-50
which

uses 67Hz.
I'll try listening to some of the repeaters.

Other than RX equalization (which am not sure functions with FM) I know of
no settings.
