[Flexradio] Antenna tuner

2014-11-03 Thread Bill and Sue
Hi Guys,
I seem to have run into the automatic tuner not able to tune correctly.
Before I ask for a ticket has anyone ever had a tuner go bad. The antenna port
seems a little loose. It is the Flex 3000. Can I add an external tuner in
front of the radio should I decide not to get a ticket and send it in?
Thanks Folks
Bill

A few things. If the connector is loose, then take some time and open up
the case and have a look. Don't worry, it won't bite you. Look for a
broken lead to the board. Lots of electronic problems like this are a
physical problem.

To see if there is a bad connection, connect your radio to your antenna and
listen to HF with the radio powered on and PowerSDR running. Wiggle the
connector and if it is bad, you will certainly hear it on your speaker as
the background noise will change by the same amount as your wiggling the
bnc connector.

Also make sure you don't have a bad jumper cable or even a problem with
your antenna. You may need some other radio or analyzer to test to check.

If it is broken, or doesn't look right, you can always call and talk to the
great guys at Flex. I'm sure they will get you all fixed up.

If you chose to use a different tuner, like and SGC or LDG, you can always
do that. You just have to make sure you leave your Flex tuner in bypass.

Re: [Flexradio] Antenna Tuner Settings

2006-02-27 Thread Eric Wachsmann - FlexRadio
Charles,

The memory mode simply attempts to use your most recent settings at (or
near) that same frequency rather than doing a full tune. This usually
ends up being faster by a factor of 2-3. If there has not been a tune
on a near frequency, it simply does a full tune anyways, so I would
recommend using Memory mode unless you change antennas quite a bit.

 Subject: [Flexradio] Antenna Tuner Settings

 Hi,

I read the operations manual, and I still don't know the difference
in the settings of the the antenna tuner of Memory and Full. I use
two different antennas, and I have been using Full on every time I
change bands. Is there some advantage to using Memory? Can someone
 please elaborate?

 Tnx, W1CG, Chas
