I also use Avast and it has behaved perfectly. I'll occasionally see the little toolbar icon spinning but do not detect any DPC or audio or processing glitch when that happens. -- Life for some is a tale of woe...but there's usually more woe than tail. -- TOWER/WEBCAMS and Weather Page @ http://hhweather.webhop.org - Original Message - From: "Gerald Youngblood" To: "'Gary Mackey'" ; Sent: Friday, August 07, 2009 4:50 PM Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Looking for PowerSDR Friendly Anti-virus software We use Avast here at FlexRadio with no problems. Thanks to all who took time to respond. I downloaded the EST NOD32 30 day trial and I'm running it now. My system seems to run faster and I've had no problems yet. In fact I logged a dozen or so digital QSO's tonight since installing it using Pretty Betty 3309 with HRD 5.0, HRD Logbook, and DM780 on this older P4 system. 73, ...Gary,K8EHB . ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

I had Norton for a couple of years and found it to be horrible. It often tried to block *itself* from accessing the Internet for updates. At present I am using 5-User pack of Computer Associates Internet Security Suite Deluxe, which was free after a mail-in "Competitive Upgrade" rebate via CompUSA.com (which, like circuitcity.com, is now a subsidiary of Systemax). It seems better than Norton. My main problem is the scheduler, which is set to check for updates and then scan for viruses and spyware in the early hours of each morning but will often start scanning during the day while I am using the radio or doing other things. I do use that computer for things other than the radio, so spyware and "tracking cookies" are found from time to time. 73 Alan ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
