Re: [Flexradio] Memory Selection 2.1.5 is poor
An utility for importing the applicable fields of the old memory database would be welcome since Ray has announced that it will be not supported by his superb SDRDataTransfer. I have 3000 entries and since it will be a one shoot tool, a procedure using an external tool (Excel, ...) will be appreciated. 73 de Ignacio, EB4APL On 24/07/2011 23:32, Tim Ellison, W4TME wrote: Everyone's suggestions regarding improvements to the memory form are duly noted and have been put into the developers enhancements database. -Tim --- Tim Ellison, W4TME Internet Systems Admin. Re: [Flexradio] Memory Selection 2.1.5 is poor
Ignacio, I said that it would not be incorporated into SDRDataTransfer because it would be a throwaway function. That is, you would only need to use it once then never again. I had actually started to develop a standalone utility that would do the conversion. Again, I stopped working on it for the same reasons. 1) If you only have a few memories stored, it is just as easy to re-enter them by hand, and 2.) it is a function that you will only need to use once. However, IF there are enough users out there that need it, I could possibly be persuaded to complete the standalone utility. Trying to use a program like Excel to move the data would be a real challenge. Doing it with Microsoft Access is possible, but it would be tedious. The procedure would be: 1. MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THE MEMORY.XML FILE! 2. Create a new blank database using Microsoft Access. 3. Import the PowerSDR database into the new database using the Import External Data function. 4. Delete all tables from the new database except for the Memory table. 5. Modify the structure of the Memory table to match the structure of the memory.xml file -- adding, deleting, renaming fields as necessary. 6. Export the Memory table to a new memory.xml file using the Export External Data function. You are probably going to have to look at every record in the Memory table anyway, so it may be easier just to re-enter the memories by hand. *NOTICE**NOTICE**NOTICE* Let me go on record as stating that, I DO NOT RECOMMEND that anyone use this method to try to move memory data from the old database to the new memory.xml file. 73, Ray, K9DUR http://k9dur.info ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kc.flexradio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flexradio.com/

Re: [Flexradio] Memory Selection 2.1.5 is poor
I just got the update installed today (very clean no issues) and am still doing some minor tweeks, however if you have a 2m memory item seleted the box in the lower right will work for other selections until you go to an HF memory item. Once you do that the box changes so that capability is not there. I think a box update to add that capability to all modes will work wonderfully. At least that is my 2c worth at this point. My thanks to the Flex team for the great update! I am still trying to learn what a fantastic tool this is. My limitation is this is my first HF rig and I have a big learning curve there. A tutorial DVD (even for sale) would be a great boon to those of us try to learn how to effectivly use it in all modes effectivly (especially newbies), plus the options. 73 Michael M.
