[Flexradio] NR Settings
T he settings I use on my Flex 3000 are Taps 58, Delay 8, Gain 10, Leaks 1 . Your mileage may vary depending on the quality of the external speaker or headset used. Hi there Terry. Thank you very much for jumping in on this topic. So far I am with you in every way. [Flexradio] NR settings for SSB
I've been playing around with the NR settings in 1.4.5p3 to see if I could obtain a reduction in noise without the audio sounding as if its coming from the end of a long pipe. I find the default settings Taps 65, Delay 50, Gain 50, far too aggressive - it just appears to reduce everything to sort of echoey mush. Adjusting everything down to 40, 25,25 makes some improvement but not nearly enough for my ears. I'd be interested to know what settings others are using for NR. What I'm really after is a slight reduction in noise (I believe its essential to still hear some band noise) and the audio signal to be left untouched. As an aside, I connected a BHI NEIM1031 (GAP Hear It In Line Module ) in line with the speakers I use, and on the level 4 setting (15dB) it produces a significant reduction in background/band noise with no reduction in the intelligibility of the audio. I do realise of course that this approach is not the same as reducing the noise before it gets anywhere near the speakers as the SDR software does. Anyway, would be interested in any comments on the settings being used by others. 73 to all Trevor G0KTN
