I know you would NEVER believe this of microsoft, but they have some SERIOUS bug fixes, not just security holes, that get fixed every Tuesday. Another thing to check / verify; make sure all audio devices are running the same sampling rate and depth i.e 2 channel, 16 bit, 48,000 Hz. Hi Lester! Are there any network interfaces present (including wireless networking) ? They may be built into the motherboard. Doesn't matter if you have them connected to a network cable or not.
