Re: [Flexradio] Vac Question

2014-12-29 Thread Ed Wilson
Greg,

As a user of VAC for several years, I recently switched to VB Cable because of
excessive latency with VAC when running JT65 and JT9. VB Cable has worked great
for me the past few months and the price is right, although you might wish to
consider a donation to the software author.

You may want to look into this software that I am using for my digital

FREE ) and I have not had any problems at all with them and FlexRadio Software

Greg -

The quality of copy is not impacted by any of the functional (not trial)
virtual cable products. The only way to screw things up is to miss-match
the sampling rates. And Windows may try to screw you when you do a Windows
update. Windows likes 44.1kbs, and everything that we do uses even
multiples of 8, 16, 32, 48 kbs and so on.

Garbled copy is a result of operator (sending) error (tremor causes me to
make typos, or I can overdrive things and up I.M.D.). Or a weak signal,
ORM, ORN and such.

Get any package working and you can ignore it.

My concern was if I purchased the real copy of VAC, would it look just

You are getting copy, so VAC is working. Get a proper copy of VAC, or

I suggest uninstalling 4.10 before installing either the signed or unsigned
4.09 version. You only need the signed version if you are running 64-bit

Aloha Guy! I probably would have to consider if what you are doing with VAC
is something I want to do. I can understand why you are using VAC the way you
are but I dont see it as something I feel is necessary. Hi-Fi SSB isnt high
on my list of priorities, although Hi Fi AM is a whole other issue.
I understand the SDR 1000 has terrific audio in the AM transmit mode so maybe
VAC might be an advantage there.
Thanks for your input.

Re: [Flexradio] VAC Question

2007-03-03 Thread ah6jr
Aloha Ken!

I didnt know for sure if VAC would eliminate the latency or not.
Thats why I was posting the question. I was thinking it might help but it
appears the only real way is to play with the buffers.

A long time ago, maybe 18-24 months a wish list was drawn up by the people at
Flex. At first getting a voice keyer implemented was high on the list. Then a
few months later it was moved to second class status. Then dropped all
together. No explanation as to why.

It seems other ideas had more importance even though there are many Flexers
who would appreciate the voice keyer over some of the other items that have
been added since.

Would I purchase another radio from Flex? I cant say I would, there are issues
within the unit that need to be addressed and have not been. The dc-dc
converter issue is one which I had hoped Flex would have come up with a
modification for but to my knowledge hasnt. Have you looked at 10 meters on
the pan adaptor? Bet you cant count all the spurs showing on that one band.

I appreciate your assistance and sorry to hear of your cold and snow, I just
cant decide if I should go to the beach tomorrow :)

Re: [Flexradio] VAC Question

2007-03-03 Thread Guy Atkins
Hi Stan,

I use VAC as the input to my two favorite recording programs, Total Recorder
Pro and RecAll Pro, and I have one or the other running at all times when
I'm DXing. Using VAC ensures I'm recording the highest quality audio
possible, without the intermediate DA/AD conversion that occurs with a
separate sound card.

Hi Stan, I use VAC to make a channel to my SPECTROgram program, and
to make an audio channel for Audacity the (freeware) audio recording
and manipulation program.

You could pipe audio to Skype, Teamspeak, or any other program that
you might have running and want to share with others.

Re: [Flexradio] VAC question

Also please note that VAC version 4.03 is available at a 50% discount to
previous version purchasers of VAC. Send the author an e-mail for the
discount code.I found that version 4.03 works with the new Multipsk program
versions, whereas VAC ver. 3.12 did not work with Multipsk. There are other
enhancements too for compatibility issues, so I think the upgrade is
worthwhile.

I'm still looking forward to N8VB's version for a virtual audio progarm when he
has time, but I know Phil is very busy with HPSDR and other.

Name ANY card you can think of that supports 800 kHz.

Did you mean to say 8 kHz or is something sending the wrong thing to the
VAC?

I am presuming that the person is not using VAC 4.03 or later. We need
to know more.
