Re: [Flexradio] broad band noise
Jim: Do you have your noise blanker turned on? The kind of behavior you mention is common to all noise blankers, even software ones. I have it with my Flex 5000. I turn off the noise blanker and the problem goes away. 73, Bill Tynan, W3XO -- From: Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2013 2:05 PM To: Subject: [Flexradio] broad band noise Query: My 3000 has "phantom audio" issues, for lack of a better way to verbalize, especially noted when pre amp is on and a strong cw signal is received on an adjacent frequency, as far as 100 Khz off center freq! Turning preamp off helps, but is not a cure. I operate this rig mainly on 6 meters, for what it's worth, although band selection shouldn't be a factor. Re: [Flexradio] broad band noise
Greg: That's encouraging to know. But, a good S9 cw sig can be heard 100 Khz away, faintly. Not to the point of ad nauseam, but definitely distracting. Best I can describe itsounds like something rattling around in there. Maybe all 3000's do that! Big cats are predictablethey are hard wired predators! Re: [Flexradio] broad band noise
Post script. Issue seems worse when noise blanker is "on." Actually better with the ANF "on" and both noise blankers "off." [Flexradio] broad band noise
Query: My 3000 has "phantom audio" issues, for lack of a better way to verbalize, especially noted when pre amp is on and a strong cw signal is received on an adjacent frequency, as far as 100 Khz off center freq! Turning preamp off helps, but is not a cure. I operate this rig mainly on 6 meters, for what it's worth, although band selection shouldn't be a factor. This cw "splatter condition" is strong enough to be copied 100 Khz +/- above and below freq on which it is actually transmitted. Thoughts?
