Re: [Flexradio] WIn 7 strange phenomena with SDR1000
Ed, If you listen on the opposite sideband and move the passband to the opposite SB, you should hear the signals, this is normal, but if you flip to the opposite SB without moving the passband, you should not.. I verified that it works the same on Win7 as it does on XP.. On the SDR-1000 if you are missing one side of the I/Q signal coming from the radio, then you will hear the opposite SB just fine, due to no nulling on the I/Q signal, so either have your friend run the RX Image calibration and/or check his connections to the sound card. This is one of the advantage of having a Flex 5000 or Flex 3000. 73, Dudley WA5QPZ Edwin Marzan wrote: A fellow flexer using an SDR1000 and Windows 7 told me that if he slides his filter from LSB to USB he is able to hear USB signals on USB clearly. You've got it right. The gentleman stated that it didn't work like that until he switched to Windows 7. I don't see why the OS should matter but I know mine doesn't work like that nor would I expect it to. Re: [Flexradio] WIn 7 strange phenomena with SDR1000
If I understand well, you mean select mode LSB, shift the filter to the right to the position where the USB filter roughly should be and listening for example in 20 m, he hears the USB signals clearly? Well, of course, this is true, it can be verified by anyone regardless the operating system. It is the equivalent in an analog receiver to install a USB filter in the LSB path, the demodulator is the same. There were receivers (expensive) with independent filters for each sideband which allowed for ISB mode. If you didn't verified that probably is because the filter was not shifted to the right position or the station you heard was using the inverted sideband. Or I misunderstood the whole thing, which is normal. 73 de Ignacio, EB4APL - Edwin Marzan wrote: A fellow flexer using an SDR1000 and Windows 7 told me that if he slides his filter from LSB to USB he is able to hear USB signals on USB clearly.
