I'd vote for a modification of the 3D model. The cones behind the
engines don't look _that_ realistic when sitting idle on the runway:

..cut the longer cone in half, for lenght, in that length give it 
the 3 blowtorch blues when on 3/4 to full afterburner, on less 
power, clear heat haze the background, but leave the tail pipe 
light on, on afterburner on.  For  WWII thru Cold War military 
jets on JP4 et al, soot pipes are allowable, its our sim.  ;-)
