[Flightgear-devel] FG hangs while waiting for METAR data?
Hi all, I could be wrong but it appears to me that FG will hang if the METAR server is unreachable. I was using FG while connected to the Internet via my phone (through wifi). Whenever my phone reboots or connectivity is lost, FG would produce a square wave pattern on my CPU meter. It would run for 10 sec and block for 20 sec with CPU use on 0, then run again for 10 sec, etc. Disabling live METAR data would make this go away. I presume this only happens if the connection to the METAR server times out, but would be highly annoying to any user. Hi James, Thanks for that. I just wanted to report it in case noone did yet. [Flightgear-devel] SF25
Hi. I started messing with the model again, minor changes so far. I believe i feel more comfortable with Blender than Vik,, but i could use some help with the panel. I'll get back to you guys with more specific questions. [Flightgear-devel] New experimental mapserver
Hi all I created a new experimental mapnik mapserver. It is based on mapnik/ogcserver/tilecache/postgis/postgres. For testing purposes I pushed 850 aeronautical data from Robin Peel into the database and render some example queries. The database knows the whole world, the example is restricted to a bounding box for testing purposes (8/40/11/44). When all goes fine I can show another experimental example soon with recent FlightGear data, via the official FlightGear mapserver. The code of this project goes free and open source to the FGx repo (while the data of the current example is restricted to non-commercial use). Any comments, suggestions and ideas, contribution welcome ! http://maptest.fgx.ch Cheers, Yves -- EMC VNX: the world's simplest storage, starting under $10K The only unified storage solution that offers unified management Up to 160% more powerful than alternatives and 25% more efficient. Re: [Flightgear-devel] New aircraft: SF-25
Hi all, The model was updated again. (Still at http://www.avatarzenekar.hu/files/sf25b.tar.bz2 ). Changes from yesterday: - Dependencies to other models removed - Radio and glider vario now works - Improved sounds I still need some help to figure out why it wants to ground loop so badly on takeoff and especially landing. Any help would be appreciated. Also I promise that if someone sets up the model in FG git, I'll stop spamming the list every time I update it :) Cheers, Vik On 23 August 2011 17:22, Viktor Radnai viktor.rad...@gmail.com wrote: Hi all, I have uploaded a newer version of the Falke. Grab it from here as before: http://www.avatarzenekar.hu/files/sf25b.tar.bz2 The model now has the beginnings of an instrument panel, with instruments recycled from Instruments-3d or other models. The model specifically depends on the ASK13, Grob-109, Katana and pa28-161 for now. I had to make a heavy-handed change to the model, changing the tilt of the instrument panel. Could someone who actually knows how to use Blender please patch up the holes left in the fuselage by my change? Also I notice that the wings sometimes disappear when looking from inside of the cabin, leaving the wheels, spoilers and ailerons flying in formation with the plane. If someone could help me fix that, I'd appreciate it. I need some help with the instruments as well. The radio, the outside air temp meter, the glider vario and the engine monitoring instruments don't seem to work for now. Could you please take a look and give me some pointers on what I'm missing? I did not see what the consensus on adding new models to git was, but could someone please set up a repo for this model if possible? Thanks in advance. Please download and test again if you are interested. http://www.avatarzenekar.hu/files/sf25b.tar.bz2 Many thanks to all especially Gary aka Buckaroo for his yasim xml and explanations. List of changes: - CG supposedly closer to real CG. - More realistic sink rates - Probably more realistic engine RPMs as well (can't remember how good the ones in the last version were) - Brakes now only start working on the last 20% of spoiler travel, as they should do - Working splash screen, yay :) - Incorporated Gary's nasal code snippet for managing the parking brake. List of known issues: - Above mentioned code snippet can't actually test it yet as Shift-B is remapped (d'oh). - Glide properties seem OK, but trim is nose heavy (stick must be pulled most of the time, neutral trim point seems to be near Vne or about 100 knots) - There seems to be some yaw instability at the moment when the tail gear comes off the ground. No idea if this is only in crosswind or not. No idea if the real plane does this in crosswind or not. Pulling the stick slightly during the takeoff run (which you should do anyway) seems to help. Comments from anyone familiar with the type would be very much welcome. Yves: I guess you are joking sending me localized IE javascript reports ;-) Oops, didn't notice that :P but thanks anyway ! I tried to fix it in the openlayers script, please try again (with IE9). Yeah, works now! Well done! [Flightgear-devel] new feature for condition: precision
Hi, I have just pushed a little patch to SimGear to implement feature request #372 (http://code.google.com/p/flightgear-bugs/issues/detail?id=372) This adds some fuzzy-logic to condition elements by introducing an optional precision element. Without the precision element the behavior is unchanged and existing conditions should evaluate as before. The idea behind this is to make life easier for float/double comparisons. Example: condition equals property/more/or/less/pi/property value type=double3.14/value precision type=double0.001/precision /equals /condition evaluates to true if /more/or/less/pi is between 3.135 and 3.145 (both inclusive). The precision element works for int, long, float and double properties. It has no meaning for bool properties as I could not think of any fuzzy logic between true and false. For string properties, the precision element dictates the length of the strings to compare, so condition equals property/type/of/navaid/property value type=stringVOR/value precision3/precision /equals /condition evaluates to true if /type/of/navaid contains VOR, VOR/DME or VORTAC but evaluates to false for VO, VAR etc. Beware that the first element dictates the comparison type. If, in the first example the type of /more/or/less/pi is string (or unspecified), precision would be interpreted as an int resulting in a string compare with length of zero (always true, I assume). Please let me know what you think...
