And if so wouldn't is be a good idea to integrate all custom scenery chunk into the default, call it 1.1.0 (or whatever) and offer it for download for the next release? Re: [Flightgear-devel] [SPAM] No sound under Ubuntu 12.04
Maxime, Can you please provide more details on how you solved this issue? I have also upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and my sound is gone in FG. I checked my home directory and I don't have any .alsoftrc directory there. IB Thanks to all for your answers and the hint about checking the OpenAL configuration - the problem was caused by a stale .alsoftrc config file that had persisted in my home directory across the OS upgrade. Sorry for the noise... You OpenAL intsallation might not be properly configured, check your /etc/openal/alsoft.conf and/or ~/.alsoftrc files. (If you have OpenAL-soft. The location in /etc may vary with the distribution.) On my system I have anders@sleipner:~$ cat ~/.alsoftrc format = AL_FORMAT_STEREO16 cf_level = 2 drivers = alsa [alsa] # ALSA backend stuff device = plug:dmix capture = plug:dsnoop [wave] file = /dev/null to make OpenAL use ALSA. Re: [Flightgear-devel] Photo scenery patch: request for help
I have tested these modifications to the master branch and in order for the photos to be shown in the terrain, the shadder effect (inside the Rendering Options menu) needs to be set to Performance (0); Otherwise the regular terrain materials will show. I believe that this patch is a great addition to the Scenery development as it brings us closer to what you will most likely see when flying over that region, and I do second Peter's request for most savvy and expert members to add this change as a part of the master branch. IB -Original Message- From: fgphotoscenery [mailto:fgphotoscen...@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, March 26, 2012 12:35 AM To: flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: [Flightgear-devel] Photo scenery patch: request for help This is a request for help to see if his patch could be put into flightgear. I do not understand enough of flightgear to be able to push this forward myself. My only involvement in all this are some scenery images I made that use his patch (http://fgphotoscenery.square7.ch, http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5t=15174). On my machine at least, also some modification of terrain-default.eff is necessary, because when using Benoit's patch as he made it, the standard texture is covering the photo texture except for very small regions like streets and just around airports. This is due to the fact that terrain-default.eff has evolved since Benoit made that patch of course. Because I don't know enough about the shaders, I only could make a very violent modification to terrain-default.eff that would allow me to see the photo texture on top. This modification does break a lot of the shading as Vivian and Frederic immediately pointed out. The request for help therefore also includes to have a look at what needs to be modified in terrain-default.eff in order to show the photo texture without breaking all the rest. -- This SF email is sponsosred by: Try Windows Azure free for 90 days Click Here http://p.sf.net/sfu/sfd2d-msazure ___ Flightgear-devel mailing list Flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel
Re: [Flightgear-devel] Final 2.6.0 Release Preparations
what about this: Best of all, the new features are based on user community requests, and not driven by economic incentives. Some of these features are already in the works for the next FG release [give continuity message about the development] IB Date: Fri, 10 Feb 2012 20:21:18 + From: stuar...@gmail.com To: flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Flightgear-devel] Final 2.6.0 Release Preparations On Fri, Feb 10, 2012 at 6:58 PM, Tuomad wrote: best of all, it's open source and developed by an active group of people with different backgrounds - a group that welcomes people like you to be part of the community. ? Or is that attempting a too big group hug? ;^) The idea I was trying to get across was that the advantage of OSS development was that the FG community itself owns the simulator. One reason for emphasising this is that it contrasts with the disappointment the MSFS community has felt with the release of MS Flight, which isn't looking like being the serious simulation they were hoping for. I think the big group hug is somewhat repeating what's written earlier in the statement. -Stuart -- Virtualization Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ ___ Flightgear-devel mailing list Flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel -- Virtualization Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/___ Flightgear-devel mailing list Flightgear-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/flightgear-devel
[Flightgear-devel] Buildings and landscape out of synch
I am a casual user of Flightgear that flies usually in the same airports, namely KDCA and KIAD. The first airport is just a mile from the White House, and is in the surroundings of this airport that I found the major discrepancies between what I know I should be seening (and where) and what I actually see through the cockpit. At the north of the airport, there are some buildings that appear as being on top of the water (the Potomac river) in this example, and this doesnt create a well defined scenery. I have been reading a lot on the wiki and several links from there, but I havent yet found a guide on how to correct these situations, or even to determine what is actually wrong with the picture: Are the buildings misplaced or is the Landsat not updated? I have the will and some free time in my hands to correct this, but I don't know how to do this. Maybe someone in the forum can point me out into the right direction. Thanks!
