You might want to ask him. Our IRC server is irc.flightgear.org. Sorry, I don't
remember the links for the screenshots.

 Hi,

It´s possible in a FG aircraft add a animation (via XML), or something like,
using OSG:Light to create a spotlight, or a beacon that is light emissive and
others objects reflect its light? I want to know if is possible create
 something like

And maybe associate a spotlight effect to a object (beacon, landing
lights...) as we can see here

Does anyone here know anything about softonics? At first glance it appears
to me to be a link exchange ploy ... by giving out awards we post the
banner on our page with a link back to their site ... drives traffic to them.
Or maybe this is a prestigious award and I'm just behind on what's what and
who's who these days in the internet world.

Well, anyway we won! Woo hoo ... we are now in the running for a free car,
but the way those sorts of prizes are taxed around here, something like
that is usually a lot more trouble than it's worth. But sounds good on the
face of it, maybe I should post their banner and link so we get more votes
 for the free car? :-)

How ever, in  outside orbit view, the sound pitch
 depended on the

Now, on both systems, the cockpit  sound is normal

 becomes
crackly  something like the right sound is fighting

 broken with only the  very

 Hope this is helpful,

I have to add that Sound volume is broken too now,(but Mute is working),

[Flightgear-devel] Hansajet autopilot

2009-11-17 Thread Victhor Foster
Well, I have sent a message about that bug some time ago, but I would like to
know if it has been worked on or not, maybe if the dev forgot that I sent

The bug: The autopilot, when activated on NAV/heading hold mode, will cause the
plane to do many barrel rolls. I think it's overshooting.
BTW, I also filed a report for the Seneca II (autopilot issue, although not
like this one), and it has been solved a some time ago :)

Re: [Flightgear-devel] GPS

2009-11-16 Thread Victhor Foster
You need to use the Route Manager dialog. The route will only activate once the
aircraft is airborne.
Look at the GPS dialog. If you see that the destination airport on the current
leg is your departure airport, go back to the route manager, search for your
destination's ICAO code, then press DTO.
 Hello James ,
Just tried the b1900d after a long while , and I have no idea how to
use my own KLN90B anymore ... any pointers on how I can fix this ?
In particular , I cant set the destination waypoint , though it
 appears with a search.
 Thanks.

FG works again here, but there are bugs with your code. Some models are
untextured, some are textured, and the shading is weird. Like when you have the

[Flightgear-devel] ZKV500 GPS instrument; (New?) GPS code bug

2009-10-21 Thread Victhor Foster
I'm pretty sure that this bug happened to me before. If the GPS is set
to OBS mode, changing the course as to make the CDI needle center
causes the autopilot to follow north, while leaving it at the default
setting (north) causes the AP to follow the correct course. Is it
supposed to happen? It works normally while on leg mode.
BTW, what is DTO mode for? I see it on the GPS dialog, but I don't
know how that mode works.

Also, I would like to tell the developer of the ZKV500 GPS instrument
(listed in the manual as Sébastien MARQUE) that it isn't working as
it should anymore. Perhaps it was the GPS code update, or the user :)
I have a few bookmarks on the turnpoint screen, but pressing the
start or the enter button does nothing.

[Flightgear-devel] Hansajet/Seneca II autopilot bugs

2009-10-17 Thread Victhor Foster
Hi, I was going to takeoff on the Hansajet for a flight, when I turned
the autopilot on. It was on wing level mode. It was able to stabilize
the aircraft properly, but when I turned the knob to NAV mode, it
produced an excessive roll angle. I was able to disengage the AP and
stabilize the aircraft. Roll knob on wing leveler mode yields same
result. The Seneca II isn't as serious as the Hansajet's. It's just an
annoying quirk: If the autopilot mode knob is turned to NAV mode,
it'll disengage. Heading hold mode works as expected.
Also the engine on the Seneca II consumes much less fuel than before,
and its RPM behavior is less aggressive. I updated CVS yesterday, but
it didn't work, for both bugs. Although the engine file on the Seneca
II was updated, I think that was that update that arose the issue.

Correct - you need to update the data package as well - and in general
that's going to be true for the next little while, as the C++ and GUI

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Problematic forum discussion on an MP event

2009-09-17 Thread Victhor Foster
GTA IV sucks. Even if you have an IBM Roadrunner, it'll lag. It's very
badly designed (as with all Rockstar games) ;)
Besides, GTA IV is completely fictional, but the MP event is *loosely*
based on a real, tragic, event. I was going to join it, just to fly
around. The plane I was going to use can't open the bomb doors, nor
drop them.
The best thing the event organizer can is hear the complaints and try
to explain himself. I had a problem with a comment I made. It was just
a misinterpretation, but I explained the issue and solved it. :)
I can't seem to actually feel bad for WWII games, they are just games
that are based real events, but most of them are loosely based on
them. :)

[Flightgear-devel] Weird Sun and weather bugs

I don't remember when this started, I think it was a week or so. Well,
the Sun bug is simple: switching time to Dawn/Dusk will cause the sun

afternoon colors. The weather bug is: after about 1 ft MSL (I
think) it starts raining. When I get past about 15000 ft MSL snow
starts falling. It stops after some time, eventually. I don't recall

   Communications.
 3) There is no doubt that NDB and DME can be collocated.
 4) There is considerable doubt that any real-world ground

evidence of such pairing has been adduced.
 5) There is considerable doubt that any real-world cockpit

evidence of such pairing has been adduced.

If NDB/DME frequency pairing exists, perhaps somebody would
be kind enough to tell us what the pairing scheme is, and/or
give an example of a real-world instrument that implements
 such pairing.

Otherwise we will continue to assume that the lack of any
such pairing within FGFS is entirely realistic.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] navradio.cxx

2009-09-02 Thread Victhor Foster
Is this good? It seems to be :) I had problems with GPSes before, as
the CDI would just reset to zero and even if the CDI course is the
same as the GPS bearing, the A/P won't follow the course, instead
following the heading bug. Which is strange, because if NAV1 isn't
set to be slaved to GPS, the A/P follows the VOR course normally.
I've just committed a large patch to the navradio code, which re-
structures the code, with the aim of increasing the readability (and
maintainability) significantly. This is in preparation for some other
changes, especially making the 'NAV/GPS switch' function more
explicit, and hopefully removing any knowledge of GPS-type systems
 from the nav-radio proper.

I've tested this locally for several days, but the code is full of
conditionals - for GPS-coupled operation, ILS/LOC operation with and
without glide-slopes, and many other similar things.  Working on the
basis that I will only encounter a subset of cases myself, I'm
committing it with the promise to fix any problems that crop up ASAP.

Note that some things which were subtly broken before, are now more
obviously broken: notably GPS-slaved-glideslopes (which has a prior
FIXME). Similarly, I've made no attempt to fix any particular
behaviour of the code - if it behaved a certain way before, it should
be exactly the same now, for better or worse!

 Regards,
 James

Probably that the shaders work differently than I expected and that

 Randy,

Since you wanted to compile from source, I assumed, wrongly that
you would be using cvs-head of all source code. This is what I do;
well more or less because I have some development code as well. We
didn’t introduce the MSVC9 stuff until comparatively recently.

If you want to go back to 1.9.1, and there is no reason why you
shouldn’t: use the VC7.1 solution files and convert them to MSVC9
files using the utility built into MSVC9. You should be able to find
matching versions of flightgear and simgear, and I think the latest
stable version of osg will work. Alternatively, go down the cvs-head
route. It’s all a bit of an effort to start with to get the paths
and all the dependencies right, but it does work in the end.

Thanks for your email. I downloaded MSVC9. I downloaded
FlightGear-1.9.1 but I don't
see a MSVC9 solution, I see an 8 solution just inside the
folder, and a VC7.1 and a VC8
in the projects folder. Isn't 1.9.1 supposed to be the latest?
Why is there 2 VC8 solutions in

 two places?
I tried FlightGear_0.9 that does have a 9 solution file under
\projects\vc90, but it says I'm
missing SimGear\projects\VC90\Simgear.vcproj when I start it up.
Simgear only has VC7.1 and
VC8 folders under projects, no VC9. SimGear only has downloads of
1.9.1 and 1.9.0 on their
website. I thought you had to have matching version numbers of
FlightGear and Simgear in order

 to compile.
 What versions do you use?

Any help you give will be greatly appreciated by the Captain and me.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Heads up: a IDE for shader authoring

It's Windows-only, and I think it should make matters worse for ATI
users ;)

 Hi eyecandy creators,

I just found that on nvidia's developer site

 http://developer.nvidia.com/object/fx_composer_home.html

and wonder if it is fits with the new graphic effect capabilities of
 FlightGear?

There's a MSVC9 project file inside it. I don't have MSVC, so I don't
know if it works.

I see that there's a VC90 folder in current CVS code, and that it has

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Till Busch's terrain shaders

2009-08-08 Thread Victhor Foster
I'm also suffering from the same problem. I can get nearly 25 fps
without the new shaders/rain/snow.

Hi,

For what it's worth, 3d clouds seem to run reasonably fast by
themselves, but if you have 3d clouds + these new shader effects (or
existing effects like rain/snow) then my frame rates come grinding
to nearly a halt. Switching to 2d clouds with these new shader
effects puts me back up to running fast again. Also 3d clouds +
drawing to multiple cameras/windows is another thing that seems to
bring the frame rates down substantially.

Regards,

Curt.

Yes, I noticed the same with the clouds and the rain. For a FGFS 2.0
we should solve that

Re: [Flightgear-devel] New FDM: Vamos automotive simulation in flightgear

If I had better Blender skills and if this FDM is approved, maybe a
350Z will appear in FG :)
Hope we don't become a driving sim :P

 Hi,

Is there a chance to get it into svn?

Does this mean we'd be able to have real gearboxes in the vehicles we
already have, along with drive based on ground reaction rather than
 faked with a jet engine?

That'd certainly be extremely useful for airfield vehicles.

It's not GPL, and it looks high-poly. :/ But it's very realistic :)

If the framework is there, why not? SimGear was punted as a

 engine wasn't it?

As long as we don't lose sight of what we are really all about.

 A fork to Top Gear?

we're trying to educate our guests pilots to behave accordingly ;-)

That's it. The rest of the log are just JSBSim tables.

Can you print the last part of the log or anything that the console dumps -
 that might help. Details! :-)

 Rather long title, eh? :D
I'm getting an error with the Seneca II. IndependenVar property,
ice/wing in Table definition is not defined.
 That's all.
Even with debug logs, the rest of it is just JSBSim aerodynamic tables.
 They stop in that error.
