Not that the below option will not work but if you really are worried about loosing the info.. If i were you i would purchase a new hd and do a fresh install on the new hd and then get a external enclosure for the old hd or put the old drive in the case as well so you will have a backup disk that will prevent this from happening in the future.. I like the external enclosures better because you can easily transport a lot of info ie. pictures, movies, music, and other crap to almost any computer. ... if you need any further help let me know and this is ok for the list right no big deal we are here to help each other I like helping people crispinSol Nte <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Alan,You can repair your XP install and thus retain all files and settings whilstputting a fresh copy of XP on your machine.Just boot from your XP install CD and select the repair option rather than anormal install, this will retain all your files and settings.XP is drivel but this feature actually works pretty well. Dad, If Sol's solution doesn't help, you can rescue data by removing your hard drive and temporarily installing it as 2nd hard drive in a working computer. Just copy your files to the working computer's hard drive and burn them to a CD. You can then reformat your original drive in your own PC and start again from scratch. Alan, You can repair your XP install and thus retain all files and settings whilst putting a fresh copy of XP on your machine. Just boot from your XP install CD and select the repair option rather than a normal install, this will retain all your files and settings. XP is drivel but this feature actually works pretty well. I've used it on several occasions, especially when I hacked my login screen in a somewhat carefree manner with bizarre conseqeunces! cheers, Sol. - Original Message - From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2006 7:58 AM Subject: FLUXLIST: aaarrrghh! help!!! teknicall assistance required > > sorry about the non fluxlist context > > > > whilst setting up my new midi controller keyboard and installing some software i have managed to send my computer into an infinite boot loop. > > > > i fear i may have have to reinstall the OS and thereby lose a large portion of the FFFO!
