RE: Build FOP

2005-03-22 Thread Gang Li

Well, I just started on rebuilding FOP source code. Nothing has been
done with fonts yet. Here is what I am going to do.

1. Get the source code compiled.
2. Create fonts XML files for Bookman Old Style.
3. Modify the userconfig.xml and rebuild FOP to include fonts.

In my case, I am running FOP as a Servlet so I think I would use Manoj's
approach to refer to the font TTF file with
"http://localhost:8080/fop/fonts/msgothic.TTF"; so that I am not gonna
mess with package fonts file with FOP.jar but instead package it along
with my FOP.war which will be deployed on Tomcat.

Just making sure: so you *are* using build.bat, and not your own version
of Ant?

In that case, well...
How exactly are you trying to add support for the 'Bookman Old Style'
font?
It almosts seems like you want to have it compiled in in some way, and
you're trying to use the Base14 fonts as an example --correct?

If this doesn't work. Can we somehow use the BaseDir to point it to the
absolute path to the TTF file packaged with FOP?

Is this possible?

Are you sure? The "metrics-file" attribute may be an URL:

but the value of "embed-file" is passed to an java.io.File constructor.
Which JVM version are you running?

I thought it was an ANT problem. I am using ant 1.6.2 but the ant coming
with source code and binary distribution is ant1.5.1. I didn't modify
any of the build files (build.bat and build.xml) though I checked and
made sure the files are under the right folder.

Sure, there *are* silly questions, but yours does not strike me as
'silly'.

It definitely seems to be a (version-)problem with Ant.
Which version of Ant are you using to perform the build? (A bit of
browsing leads me to conclude that for older versions --pre 1.5-- there
was no 'TraXLiaison' taskdef.)

I have used the http protocol to access the font file..

http://localhost:7011/web/msgothic.xml";
embed-file="http://localhost:7011/web/msgothic.TTF";

Instead of "localhost" you can use the servername where the fonts are

I want to insert a line in the table row to make it like following. I

can I set some property to reduce that space?

I used to use this to keep the space and other stuff. You may not need
all of them though.

I'm not certain how to handle that... Perhaps another listie might know
more about that. I was including it since it's part of the info on that
page. :-)

But since it 'works' in fop-0.20.5, you can always continue to use
fop-0.20.5 even after fop-1.0 is released. Either that, or there might
be some other solutions in XSL-FO you could find. I think the keyword
you should look at is 'white-space' (white-space-preserve,
white-space-collapse, etc.).

Just want to let you know that JAXP's setParameter works well. And I

It's usually best to forget about XSLTInputHandler, and just use JAXP[1]
instead. Also note this example has a setParameter() call to show you
how parameters work with FOP.

RE: XSLTInputHandler setParameter

Glen,

Thanks a lot for your response. I was actually using JAXP to do the
setParameter before but this time since FOP is used as a Servlet so that
I only modified the Servlet example. Being lazy caused me the problem.
:-) I think I will go back to the correct route!

Thanks for the 2nd link! Yes, that's what I wanted!

XSLTInputHandler setParameter

2005-01-31 Thread Gang Li

Has anybody had problem with XSLTInputHandler's
setParameter method? I modified the Servlet
example coming with the package to fit my needs. It worked but I seem to have problems setting the parameter in
my stylesheet. The parameter doesn't seem
to be set (or changed if I set a default value
for the parameter) using
XSLTInputHanlder.setParameter(). Anybody had any experience with
it?  I know in
the past, I can set parameter through Transformer.setParameter method. But
XSLTInputHandler (through TraxInputHandler) is actually setting the parameter
through Transformer.setParameter as well. Don't understand why it is not
working.

Anybody has any
experience with this?

Thanks.

Also: does anybody
know how can I set the PDF file name for the streamed PDF object? I am getting
the PDF streamed back to the browser, but I want it to be able to print with a
specific name. I don't know how to do it. Anybody
else?
