Hehhe.. this is a never ending saga (atleast I believe they've never
agreed over the kernel design)
One pushes for microkernel, the other for monolithic kernel. One pushes
for cleaner, tighter kernel whereas other goes everything's good.

It's good to be informative, but Prasanna, I believe you are wasting too
much time/effort on reading them
because these discussions on usenet are like a 2 seconds fart
(ultimately lots of these types of discussion don't lead to anywhere)

It's better to discuss something more appropriate in relation FOSS I
believe but no one's stopping you from discussing any arbritary things. ;)
G'day.

one more thing... as the Yardbirds once sang as well "Don't judge a book by
its cover"
FYI, I am using a windows box right now... but nothing i use is
microsoft except Internet explorer (showed some problems in
linux)... and other thing is we need to know the ways of the enemy to
effectively beat it. Everytime I touch the window, i miss beryl... and
yeah... everytime i play age of empires or try making a game/robot(at least
simulate) using MS tools... ... i wish there were some for linux... there
will be..

2007-05-16 Thread Prasanna Gautam
wtf... do u mean to say Linux is communist? Microsoft does have good
technologies and probably some of the best minds... but so much is getting
wasted. They make false claims, participate in un-trade-friendly and
monopolistic practices(yeah, that sounds more like saying "comrade") i'm
not defending the book but essentially I was putting a "truth."
The effect of Microsoft is psychological, not technological. Stalling
science(and engineering) for decades is a crime... and Microsoft committed
that. We have a nice OS... or OSes... if Microsoft comes to the point of
slandering the open source community... we will get back

Yep that's what Free Software Foundation is for: "Fight the Truth" not
Microsoft.

[FOSS Nepal] Re: some secrets

2007-05-16 Thread Bipin Gautam

friends,
we dont need to spread the word "HATE microsoft" to make us love
OSS as we do or do we got to have a comparison ground to make us
look better. I love to use technologies available in OFF as much as
everyone out here in the list does but dont you think books as "why i
hate microsoft" is completely biased and aims to influence the reader
towards towards the writers opinion anyways?

The point is hating microsoft isnt wrong... if its your personal
opinion that's build up from personal feelings. Loving a biased
opinion without personal judgement is WRONG.

Thing i hate about influential ppl. in the international FOSS
community is they try to teach "Ka" for "comred" instead of C for CAT.

Linux "is" most of your e-religion, and I know. i dont want to
offensive or hurt any of my friends feelings over here but what my
education has taught me is we should celebrate our culture but never
follow it blindly as extreme superstition so be it in the real
world or in the digital world.

and this is for your call Prasanna:
Softwares are like mathmatical algorithm, numbers
A number cannot be patented.
A number cannot be copyrighted.
Do not bow to the threats as others have.
Spread the word.
Fight for truth.

(at least, unless we open it once again). Billy is smart , i hadn't expected
dumb move like this from him (maybe he started listening his fellows). Lets

Its good to know that Hotmail uses Unix server. But, I think i have
heard something different. Hotmail is not the original product or
service of M$ Windows. It was bought from some others ,so has now
rebranded to Windows Live Hotmail. I think it was first started from
BSD.
It was all what I had read, as much as I remember .

[FOSS Nepal] Re: fm program

2007-05-16 Thread masQuerade

Its good to have a talk programme between two FOSSians and also if
possible one who is a die hard windows or proprietry software user.
That is among the three. I feel that sounds better .

Besides, can we talk about where can be Free and Open Source, because
Free and Open Source is not only for Softwares.

The next thing is we should have a different portal for the FM
programme, so that we can have the archives or previous discussed
topics and other information in each programme, not in this common
discussion board. Its just a thought. Coz i always make thoughts like
that , ha ha !
