And, a release that was the "latest" release for a much longer period of
course has a higher chance of bugs begin detected.

And IIRC 1.0.10 was one of the longest running releases.

I'm still bothered, particularly now that the subject line is "FPIDE
1.0.6". I think that it would be interesting to know *exactly* what the
OP is doing to get that version number, and *exactly* how that version
number is reported.

In particular, is he looking at something comparable with this:

FreePascal IDE for Linux for i386
 Target CPU: i386
Version 1.0.12 2012/11/14

As already indicated previously, the most relevant information for you is
obtained by simply testing it on your own use cases and in your own
environment. Nevertheless, you can obviously also have a look at bugs
reported for that particular version and categories relevant for you in
our bugs repository.

As an example, filtering for product version 1.0.10 and category text-mode
IDE shows 44 bug records. Not all of these are real bugs, because there
are also feature requests, etc., and not all bugs might be selected this
way due to incomplete or incorrect input provided by the original bug

You are asking about a version that was released 10 years ago. If you
want to get useful answers, you should be much more specific than "are
there some stability problems with that version". The text mode IDE
was probably extremely unstable, but other than that it's hard to
quantify things. It was the last version in the 1.0.x series, so
presumably it was reasonably ok. The only way to find out is to try
use it (if you still can find a download; we cannot distribute it
anymore because it was discovered that it contained code that may have
been copied from Borland sources).

Could you please tell us the compiler version?
It can be found in "Help|About" menu entry.

Even compiler version 2.4.0 already has IDE version 1.0.12...
Thus I suspect that 1.0.6 corresponds to a really old compiler.
It will be difficult to get feedback on outdate releases...

/If/ that's the case, then he's got FPC 2.0.2.
