Is there a way to include in Frame a link that will open an outside image

pointer that users can click on to open the additional information.

You can establish a link to a file (carried over as a link in a PDF file),
by using the "message openfile filename" hypertext marker (no quotes,
filename replaced with the specific file to be launched by the PDF link).
The linked file may of any file type that can be handled in the end-user
system, and it is displayed using the associated application. The linked
item may also be a PDF (in which case it opens in Acrobat/Reader at the
default opening page; useful when you want to link to PDFs authored with
other tools).

When links in PDFs launch a non-PDF file, an Acrobat/Reader security
message is displayed (can be turned off for the current session).

Acrobat does not have a separate mechanism to open outside images, but
using the multimedia features of Acrobat/Reader 6 (and later versions) it
is possible to display linked JPEG images in a floating window (no
automatic security messages).

A sample PDF with linked JPEG screen captures, displayed in a floating
window, is available at:
http://www.microtype.com/showcase/MultimediaAsst/LinkedJPEG.pdf (76K,
Acrobat/Reader 6 or higher required)

A special bullet? You mean, something that looks different from the
ordinary bullet as seen in FrameMaker's own templates?

In general, you create a bulleted paragraph style using the Numbering
tab of the Paragraph designer. The standard bullet character is shown as
\b, but you can substitute any character for it.
If you want to use a bullet character that is only present in a special
font like Wingdings, you need to create a Character tag that uses this
font, and then select this character tag in the Numbering tab of the
Paragraph designer.

You can find the procedures for doing this in the FrameMaker help file.
Look for the topics
"Formatting text as bulleted lists", and "Using a designer to change
font properties".

Re: AW: Conditional Text and Numbering

2006-05-29 Thread rebecca officer
Hi Winfried

A thin blank line isn't quite the only fix. You can also try conditioning the
paragraph mark of the *second-last* paragraph in the same way as the last
paragraph. That way, when you hide the last paragraph, you also hide a
paragraph mark.

I think this only works if the last 2 paragraphs are tagged with the same
paragraph tag, and it's definitely a pain to create and maintain, and it
doesn't work if every paragraph in the flow is conditioned - but it is an
alternative approach.

Cheers, Rebecca

Hi,

When the last paragraph in a text flow has autonumbering applied,
and you hide it with a condition, only the text part gets hidden.
The autonumbering is still there (together with the paragraph mark).
The only fix is to insert a paragraph (preferably with a very small
font size of 2 pt) without autonumbering after the one with
autonumbering.

Best regards

Winfried

An Adobe Technical Note I saw a while ago had a similar recommendation (=
turn off "Convert Document Information" in PDFMaker).

I disagree with this recommendation; more in this month's Hmmm...,
