Mif2Go not outputting images in FM9 to RTF

2010-08-25 Thread Writer
At the time that we upgraded to FM9 (it is fully patched), Mif2Go would crash
my computer when I tried to output FM9 files to RTF when I tried to set up the
project file. I finally realized it was because I hadn't copied the new
M2rbook.dll file to C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker9\fminit\Plugins folder.
Now I have and my computer no longer crashes.

However, Mif2Go no longer exports images to the RTF files, although it did
before I copied the M2rbook.dll file. I manually change WriteAllGraphics to Yes
in the mif2rtf.ini file. I have tried this with DITA XML files and with
unstructured FM files. Have I missed a step? Has anyone else had this problem?

Other info: XP, Word 2003

Thank you for your help,

Nadine

Yes, FM9 *requires* the current version, as a result of a
change by Adobe India in the FDK call to produce MIF that
broke back compatibility.  This fact is documented.

I hope you also copied m2gframe.dll, which is the library
used by m2rbook.dll, and must be kept in sync with it.
The installation instructions point this out, in User's
Guide par. 1.4.1, Install Mif2Go.  Of course, you
 also
need to copy the current conversion DLLs into their place
 in \windows\system32 or \windows\syswow64.

However, Mif2Go no longer exports images to the RTF

That is not the only setting involved.  It is better
 to
determine graphics production from the Export dialog,
so that *all* the needed settings are changed.  To
 have
Mif2Go generate the graphics, select Write for anchored
frames.  Note that this is *not* the best-quality
 method,
merely the simplest.  Please read User's Guide par.

I'm using FM 8 for this file... forgot to mention that, but the Edit

In looking at the MIF I see it though:

   ObColor `Black'

Don't see anything in the doc... body or ref pages.

Would it show in a LOF?

Thanks,

FM 9 or 8 has nothing to do with it. In 7.2, if I import an OLE object linked
to file and select Edit Links, it's listed. If the Links dialog doesn't show
anything, that means whoever imported the OLE objects simply embedded them in
the doc instead of linking to a file. A really, really bad idea, IMHO.

LOF won't help -- you simply define which paragraphs it includes. What can help
is a List of References. Select Imported Graphics to include. Then use the LOR
as a graphic eliminator as you page through the book. When you get to a graphic
that's not listed in the LOR, it's either an embedded graphic or an OLE object.

The official answer from the Adobe site for serial number
troubleshooting is to contact Adobe. Good luck with that.

You might try uninstalling FM9, running a registry utility like CCleaner
http://www.piriform.com/
then re-installing the licenced version.

Yes, FM9 *requires* the current version, as a result of a

broke back compatibility. This fact is documented.

I hope you also copied m2gframe.dll, which is the library

Finding OLE Objects

According to the FM 9 user's guide, "To list OLE links, choose Edit > Links".
Does that work?

Finding OLE Objects

2010-08-25 Thread Donald M Rinderknecht
Hi Nadine,

I'm using FM 8 for this file... forgot to mention that, but the Edit >
Links doesn't show anything.
In looking at the MIF I see it though:

Don't see anything in the doc... body or ref pages.

Would it show in a LOF?

Thanks,
Don.

FM 9 or 8 has nothing to do with it. In 7.2, if I import an OLE object linked
to file and select Edit > Links, it's listed.

HTH!

The official answer from the Adobe site for serial number
troubleshooting is to "contact Adobe". Good luck with that.

You might try uninstalling FM9, running a registry utility like CCleaner
http://www.piriform.com/
then re-installing the licenced version.

how to get rid of 'license expired'....

2010-08-25 Thread Bernard Gagne
Hi Wim,
At the risk of stating the obvious, did you reactivate the new Frame 9 license
with Adobe via the Internet?
I seem to recall having a similar issue with Frame 8 after using a trial copy
for a month.

Subject: how to get rid of 'license expired'

H,

I had a trial installation of FM9 on my laptop. Now I have replaced it with
a licensed copy, but starting up keeps giving the error message: licensing
for this product has expired. What can I do to get rid of this error?

Thanks,
