FM9 and 3D images in PDFs

2011-02-17 Thread Alan T Litchfield
Hi Alison,

Right Hemisphere had a plug-in for FM that allowed for the importation
of 3D objects that could then be manipulated in PDF. The client was
called Deep View and you could take CAD files and drop them into the
FM file.

This explains the process:
http://righthemisphere.com/support/kb/index.php?action=article&id=1332&relid=5

I don't know if the plug-in is still being supported in FM and you
might also need additional support in Acrobat. Probably you would need
at least version 9 of Acrobat too.

Here is info about PDF publishing with Deep Exploration:

Alison,

Make sure that "Embed 3D objects in PDF" is turned on (under File >
Preferences > General).

As you mentioned, "Save as PDF" (as opposed to printing to a .ps file and
distilling it) is required for interactive 3D/SWF in the PDF (available in
FM8 or higher).

Adobe Pro 7 and Windows 7

2011-02-17 Thread Stephen O'Brien
Hi,

I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7.

Do you know if Adobe Professional 7 works under Windows 7?

A msg is popping up when I use Adobe Professional
7 saying that something has changed, and pops up
a Register dialog box. I click to register and a
msg displays error creating file, and this all starts again.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Many thx,

2011-02-17 Thread Syed Zaeem Hosain (syed.hos...@aeris.net)
A SWAG: You probably have to run the program as an Administrator, or disable
user access checking.

I find this is needed for some Adobe programs in Windows 7 ... for example, I
have to run FrameMaker as the Administrator just so some plug-ins can update a
file in the installation tree folder.

Since I have administrator rights on my laptop, I have not bothered to explore
any simpler solution.

I assume he means Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.

Given it was released in 2005 and is now 3 versions behind the current
version, I doubt it works with Windows 7 and it's doubtful that Adobe
is supporting it with an update. You can ask them, but honestly, I'd
upgrade to Acrobat X.
