Re: [Framers] running H/F

2020-03-30 Thread Wim Hooghwinkel - idtp
Hello Tom,

not sure if this helps, but do you know that you can add multiple paragraph
format names in your Running H/F definition? Separated by comma (I think). FM
will pick up the first available form your content. So, for example, if your
definition is <$paratext[Heading1,HeadingNN,TOC_Heading]> it will pick up
Heading1 from a regular chapter, HeadingNN from your preface and TOC_Heading
from your TOC. Or whatever naminhg you use.

This way you can use the same H/F variable for different documents in your book
and don’t need to restore after importing variables.

Vriendelijke groet / Kind regards,

Wim Hooghwinkel

Re: [Framers] [EXTERNAL] ANN: Ride for Roswell and FrameMaker Automation

2020-03-30 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Tom,

How about my ImportFormatsSpecial? It allows you to import User Variables and
not System Variables (and vise versa). This allows you to import User Variables
into your documents without clobbering existing System Variables like Running
Header/Footer variables.

See http://www.frameexpert.com/store/

Thanks,
Rick

Rick,

I can think of a script that would be useful (and you might have already
thought of it).

Every time I do a revision I use the rename book components that you did for me
to save tons of time. However, I still have to go through are revise the
headers. Normally, I change the header (includes document number) in one
chapter, then select all of the other parts of the document and import variable
definitions. This works, but I still have to go back to restore the running H/F
for the preface, TOC, and Glossaries (each of which has a separate paragraph
tag). If there was a script that integrated all of that into one, or at least a
way to import variable definitions while ignoring those that have running
headers that are different from the source document, that could also be quite
useful.

Hello Framers,

I am planning to participate in the 2020 Ride for Roswell in June to raise
money for cancer treatment and research. This is the 25th anniversary of the
ride, which last year attracted over 8,000 riders. I am signed up for the
100-mile route again this year. I am riding in memory of Bruce Foster and in
honor of cancer survivor Alexandra Duffy, both long-time members of the
FrameMaker community.

Head over to my blog to get more information on receiving my scripts in
exchange for a donation. There are also a couple of goodies that are new
offerings this year. I would appreciate suggestions for other automation
scripts. Thank you very much.

[Framers] Rick's InportSelectedFormats Script

2020-03-30 Thread Julie . Sigrist
I just downloaded Rick's new ImportSelectedFormats script this morning and
have used it multiple times already. I'm doing a complete template
redesign of our 16 company manuals and along with Rick's great scripts and
Matt Sullivan's template design training I can't believe how smoothly it
is going.

Thanks for all your great work Rick & Matt.
