Re: [Frameworks] Gamestop Kodak?

2021-01-28 Thread Mike Morris
Well, I'm glad to see this idea has got a little bit of a response!
I didn't realize Robinhood wouldn't give the ability to have a say at
shareholder meetings. I've purchased the stock through my IRA in Fidelity, and
have about 11 shares now. As a sidenote, I did make a surprising amount when
Trump announced Kodak would be making supplies for vaccines.

At any rate, I still think this might be an interesting experiment. I need to
do a little more research, but maybe the question to ask would be how many
shares of stock would our community need to purchase to have some kind of
controlling interest in Kodak?

If Robinhood isn't an option for that, an IRA at Fidelity takes about $2500 to
open. Maybe there are other more traditional platforms for purchasing stock
that don't require so much upfront investment.

10 shares right now is about $100.
If we got 1500 people to buy 10 shares each, we'd be at 15,000 shares, which is
a drop in the bucket if we're talking about 9 million shares being traded
yesterday, but would the vote we'd have even with that be effective in steering
some decisions at the company?

Re: [Frameworks] Gamestop Kodak?

2021-01-28 Thread Dominic Angerame
Robinhood.com is a way to buy partial shares like game stock and Kodak etc.
this is what is driving up gamestock. Robinhood is for small investors
example is I own .34 of one stock. when a community gets together and buys
partial shares it can have an enormous impact on the stock price.

I know Kodak received an enormous amount from the past administration to
helpf fight Covid. Where those funds were spent, however, is a good
question.

It doesn't take much money to do that. Buy a single share, and you can
introduce a shareholder proposal. Whether it gets accepted or not depends
on how many other shareholders you can convince it is a good idea.

If I were to do that, I would suggest it would be a good idea for Kodak to
set up a small prototype-volume production alley to permit them to keep
small runs of unusual emulsions in short-run production in a profitable
way. It would not be cheap, but neither would losing market be.

Yes indeed. I dont understand fully how stocks work but I thought holders
can make demands on companies. My playing around maths came up with this

1725 FW + 1 friend =2450
217 orgs on filmproj21 0217
817 individuals + 1 friend (filmprj21) 1634

4302

108,000,000 divided by 4302 = $25,000 EACH!

By adding friends and maybe upping what organisations could buy you get
this

1725 FW + 2 friends = 5175
217 orgs on filmproj21 2170each org acting as 10 x
817 individuals + 3 friends 3268

$10,613 still a lot.

And yes, im sure we'd all prefer to spend that much on film
stock..

Anyway, something to do whilst stuck at home home schooling all day ever
day.

A hard slog. Especially when you consider that Kodak stock is not a great
investment.
And considering that they will not boost profits by making more super-8 film,
the stock will go down and we will all lose.
However, if each of us bought $62,000 of Kodak film rather than Kodak stock, it

Their profits would soar and they would invest their wealth in making more
film, so.

Hi all. As its a numbers game perhaps we should start with some.

Pip, how many single subscribers to FW are there?

If each subscriber could also 'rally' a set of friends/contacts to bolster
numbers it might be a good excercise.

We could tap the FilmLabs list and the Kino Climates ones also, as well as
any other lists people know off

So I am 1 subscriber. I think I could rally between 4 and 10 others.

Hard to put fiscal numbers on it, but we could be talking between $100 -
several hundred each person.

9 million shares changed hands yesterday, so we would need $108 million between
us experimental filmmakers to make a
difference. Any chance we can rally a buy?
The next annual Kodak stock shareholders meeting will take place on or around

Please keep me posted.
I don't have $108 million, but I have some hundreds.
