Re: [Frameworks] european film labs: super 8, 16 mm, winter, snow, black and white
Jennifer, You can process, develop and transfer your own film - it is not easy but neither is it impossible, and it gives you a great deal of creative control - or chaos, if you prefer. I cannot split film accurately so send my Regular 8 to the Old Film Company who are very reliable - for all things cine - please check them out. http://www.theoldfilmcompany.com/ On Thursday, 14 November 2013, 22:08, Anderwald + Grond cont...@anderwald-grond.at wrote: In Vienna there is Synchro Film http://www.synchrofilm.com/en/impressum/ and ForVideo for digitization http://www.forvideo.at/en/ Ruth Am 13.11.2013 um 17:49 schrieb Pip Chodorov framewo...@re-voir.com: Re: [Frameworks] european film labs: super 8, 16 mm, winte And there is a Kinetta in Paris if you want to scan 8mm-9.5mm-16mm-17.5mm-28mm etc in 3.3K resolution. [Frameworks] european film labs: super 8, 16 mm, winter, snow, black and white
Dear Frameworkers, I am reaching out to you for your experiences and thoughts on developing, processing, and transferring film in Europe. What are European film labs you have had good experiences and results with? Also, would anyone have a film stock recommendation (either super 8 or 16mm) for shooting snow and winter in black and white? I thank you in advance for your responses! I look forward to getting your feedback. The options seem to be many and some thoughts/guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. with love, Jennifer ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks
Re: [Frameworks] european film labs: super 8, 16 mm, winter, snow, black and white
Hi Jennifer, I am not very familiar with labs in Europe but I would like to recommend Kodak's 7222 bw 16mm film (ISO 200) for shooting winter scenes. I have used this stock a number of times in snowy conditions and when exposed properly results in nice detail in the snow that is not washed out as flat white. You will find the latitude of this film stock more forgiving then Kodak's bw reversal stock 7266. I have never used Orwo bw camera stocks but I have heard good things about their Orwo UN54 (ISO 100). Anyway good luck! Roger Roger D. Wilson613 324 - 7504rogerdwilson@sympatico.cahttp://www.rogerdwilson.ca Without failure you can never achieve success. I have based my process and my career as an experimental film artist on this statement; and I welcome it as it pushes me forward as an artist to try something different, something new. Andec in Berlin offer a very complete service: http://www.andecfilm.de/en/e_start.htm Super8 Reversal Lab in The Hague is more artisanal. http://www.super8.nl/english/e_index.htm I have been a happy user of both at different points in time over the last ten yearq.
