I succeed with changing the xslt file to
 /usr/local/share/xsl/docbook/manpages/docbook.xsl

while I'm not sure this is the right way.

graphics/ImageMagick uninstallable

2008-03-29 Thread Arkadiy Kulev
Hello freebsd-ports,

Seems like the ImageMagick port got outdated, when I do a make
install it can't find the ImageMagick-6.3.6-9.tar.bz2 on any of
  the locations within the port.

  I have the latest portsnap.

portupgrade does not require pkgdb.  pkgdb is part of portupgrade;
portupgrade installs pkgdb.

Why do you want to install this manually instead of depending on the
default? If you don't have the documented need for this, you should
just install the linux program you need from ports, as it will install
a good linux base for you.

  How do I fix this?

If you had read UPDATING you would see to do:

 sysctl compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16

 Add:

 compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16 to /etc/sysctl.conf

That's only half of the solution, he also needs to override the default
setting in make.conf to not get into dependency trouble. Ideally this
information is also available in UPDATING...

Bye,
Alexander.

The next day the ports tree updated PolicyKit to 0.7_4 and the same

Weird mouse problems with X

2008-03-29 Thread Stephen Montgomery-Smith

I updated the ports, and now the mouse under X is extremely erratic.

On a hunch, I downgraded policykit and hal (leaving the other ports
intact), and this fixed the problem completely.

Any ideas?

This is an issue with the HAL support in X. A fix is about to be committed.
For me the problem was solved by compiling moused with a more generic CPUTYPE.

Maybe that means I was hit by a different problem, I will see when the patch
hits the tree.

I don't doubt that, but portupgrade itself tossed out the instruction to me to

something screwey with qt4-gui

2008-03-29 Thread Chuck Robey
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I'm not personally asking for help on this one, because I can get this one
easily on my own, but as an experiment, I decided to try to use portupgrade to
update my qt4 installation. You might remember, I was asking for some help on
different promps that pkgdb was asking me, and portupgrade was the direct reason
(the only reason) that I was trying pkgdb; portupgrade told me to do it.

OK, I couldn't get a clear answer on pkgdb, but I finsally gort finished with
it. I haven't any idea whether I did it right or not, but it completed.

Anyhow, I then again tried to use portupgrade to upgrade my qt4-gui port. What
came back to me was this:

===  Patching for qt4-gui-4.3.4
=== qt4-gui-4.3.4 depends on executable: cupsd - found
===   qt4-gui-4.3.4 depends on package: qt4-qmake=4.3.4 - not found
=== Found qt4-qmake-4.3.1, but you need to upgrade to qt4-qmake=4.3.4.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/qt4-gui.
*** Error code 1

I finally found that port: it wasn't named qt4-qmake, i found it in
ports/devel/qmake. Like I said, no problem with me, but I think I am seeing
that portupgrade, for some reason, got the name wrong, it is teeling me
qt4-qmake, when it should have been qmake.

This is just a hint to whoever runs those ports. No response to me needed.

Not that unusual; a package name is different from an origin. qt4-
qmake would be a specific instance of the general qmake port as
specified by build knobs. I suspect you need to learn more about how
ports works.

qt4-qmake refers the version of qmake (preprocessor/makefile generator for qt)
for qt4, this is the devel/qmake4 port, the qmake port is for qt3.

There seems to be some problem with the latest qt4-gui port, ale@ indicated on
another list that disabling cups in the port options helps.

This is a real regression though. CC'd to kde@ to make sure this doesn't get
lost.

I checked, and you're incorrect, the name of the qmake is off, it's the only one
of the qt4 deps NOT to be prefixed with qt4-, and that's NOT a standard thing
with ports, the name of deps must be right, not close.

I don't know much about portupgrade, but I know ports itself well enough. On
this one, I just dind't feel like tracing it down myself, I just thought to
inform (I need to be a lot more greedy with my time since my health went south
on me), but I'm not wrong on that, either the name of that one ouight to be
changed, or all of the others should. It'd be possible to just fix the
reference to it, but that'd be leaving in a bug for others to trip over.

HEADSUP: USE_NONDEFAULT_X11BASE support going away soon

2008-03-29 Thread Florent Thoumie
Last year when X11BASE was merged with LOCALBASE, we allowed people
who wanted to retain separate prefixes to do so using the
USE_NONDEFAULT_X11BASE variable. This support will be removed soon
(read in less than two months).

Once this is done, references to X11BASE can start being removed
progressively, as the ports are updated. For that reason, we ask you
not to include any reference to X11BASE in your submissions from now
on.
