This is a good suggestion. I have only been following up on those
when there is a maintainer-timeout, so I have not been looking at the
unmaintained ones.

We have discussed that in the past but it isn't really clear if all
the tools we have work in that case.

Agreed, this is something we should be more deliberate about doing.

As linimon@ pointed out later in this thread it has been discussed, but seems
the framework is not in place.

That said, a well placed comment field in the Makefile indicating a name/email
of a person who has implicit submission rights could be helpful. While the
automated assignment tools won't catch it, a committer might.

lighttpd-1.4.21 upgrade problem

2009-02-23 Thread Paul Macdonald

Hi,

I'm seeing some odd issues after the port update of lighttpd to 1.4.21

Specifically flv files don;t autoplay till the whole file is downloaded
and then once started die after a few seconds..

I'm seeing this on several servers and the same thing with a src build.

A manual build of 1.4.20 doesn't exhibit the same behaviour.

Anyone else seeing this?

thanks
Paul Macdonald.

Re: xorg 7.4 blacks out on exit and lost 2nd video card

2009-02-23 Thread javier prats
Just an FYI.  I'm experiencing the same issue.  I'm running FreeBSD 7.1, an
Nvidia 8400 GS, and fluxbox.

At first I suspected the video driver.  I've tried nv and nvidia, neither made
a difference.  There was an error in the xorg logs for fbdev which I did not
have installed at the time.  Compiling it did not solve the issue either.

I am supposed to have hardware on it's way that will allow me to look at
this.

This is known, it is related to the switch to pciaccess, and AFAIK the
issue is currently the same with linux. I don't know the specific
reason that secondary boards don't work at the moment. I hopefully will
have most of the stuff that I need to try and at least test this soon.
Meanwhile, I'll poke around and see if anyone is looking into it.

rubygem-rails build is broken

2009-02-23 Thread Stef
Is the rails port broken? I've tried to build it multiple times last
week, each time I thought perhaps I had hit the ports tree at a bad time
(during an update), but the condition persists:

===> rubygem-actionwebservice-1.2.6 is marked as broken: require
actionpack == 1.13.6, but actionpack is 2.2.2.

Anyone sucessfully built rails from FreeBSD ports recently?

Cheers,

Stef

I've only made it built, but I've some trouble in display after recent upgrade
(always Assertion failed: (ctx->Const.MaxTextureCoordUnits <=
ctx->Const.MaxTextureImageUnits), function check_context_limits, file
main/context.c, line 964.)
I cant even run vdrift, so I need help.

HEADS UP: Upgrade of fwbuilder and libfwbuilder

2009-02-23 Thread Cy Schubert
I've been communicating with Vadim Kurland, the developer of the fwbuilder
family of software. He's notified me that 3.0.4 is about to be released and
has asked me to test the software under FreeBSD before he releases the
software. I'd like to give folks here an opportunity to use the software
prior to its official release and prior to my committing it to the ports
tree when it is officially released.

Let me know if you need any assistance.

A shar file of the software follows.

Cheers,

graphics/blender: Make use of OpenAL configurable

2009-02-23 Thread Christian Walther
Hi,

I have a suggestion for the graphics/blender port, because blenders
Makefile states that OpenAL can be disabled:
# To build without openAL, uncomment the following line, or set it as
# an environment variable, or put it uncommented in user-def.mk:
# export NAN_NO_OPENAL=true

Not every blender user requires OpenAL I guess, so it would be great
to have OpenAL as an option selectable during "make config", or having
NAN_NO_OPENAL exported so that it can be defined in /etc/make.conf.
This would reduce the binary size, probably even the amount of
installed ports, and exploit one major benefit of the ports system.

Maybe it would even make sense to integrate BLENDERGAMEENGINE and
BLENDERPLAYER user selectable. Personally, I don't think that I'll
need any of the two.

Regards
Christian Walther

Re: git snapshots, PORTVERSION, PORTEPOCH

2009-02-23 Thread Matthew D. Fuller
On Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 10:45:01AM +0200 I heard the voice of
Ion-Mihai Tetcu, and lo! it spake thus:
>
> Since you have the date, you can easily get the git magic string.

Not necessarily true at all, in VCS's that don't limit to single-line
history. Consider the case where I'm working on a feature in a
private branch since 2000-01-01. You take a snapshot of the trunk
branch on 2000-02-01. My branch is merged on 2000-03-01.

Now on 2000-04-01, somebody wants to look back and figure out which
revision corresponds to your timestamp. There are at least 2 paths
through the history that could have a commit at [to any arbitrary
granularity] the exact same date/time; there could well be more, on an
active project. Depending on the particular system and workflow, it
may not even be theoretically possible to figure out which is referred
to, short of doing full source comparisons; it can certainly be
non-trivial in many cases.
