enigmime doesn't install in 5.3BETA3

2004-09-28 Thread Jason Porter
Not sure if this one belongs in current, but I sent it to questions as
well. I'm trying to get enigmail to work in thunderbird (latest from
ports) but it won't install. I've tried installing in thunderbird and
firefox, but I don't get anything. It looks like it goes through the
install process, but there aren't any windows that pop up and say it
failed or was successful. Then when I try to use enigmail it says that
enigmime wasn't installed. Not sure what to do here, anyone? Thanks

Mozilla Calendar with Thunderbird / Firefox

2004-09-28 Thread Jason Porter
Has anyone gotten this to work yet? I've got the latest TB / FF from
the ports and I'm running 5.3Beta3 and it doesn't work. I get the
standard "ICAL Component is not registered properly" error or some might
know it as TypeError: Components.classes['@mozilla.org/ical-container;1']

Does it have something to with this being a linux release and you have
to fix the code to work on FreeBSD? Help here would be great, thanks!

Re: ACPI not working for shutdown -p

2004-09-21 Thread Jason Porter
Nope, still no go. It gives me a timeout whenever it tries to shutdown,
I don't know if that has anything to do with the timeout tables, I'd
assume so, but I haven't the slightest idea on how to fix that. I'm
still confused as to why it doesn't work on FreeBSD, but the Windows
drive I have shuts down the machine just fine. Oh well. Thanks for the
help though.

Try adding the following line to /boot/loader.conf.local and see if that
helps, I've needed this line with an A7V600-X but haven't recently (in
BETA) checked if it's still needed (dual-boot machine which usually sees
reboot, not halt -p):

Spinlock problem in 5.3-Beta

2004-09-14 Thread Jason Porter
I cvsuped last week, on 9 Sept and since then I've installed XMMS and
mplayer from the ports and neither one of them work, here are the errors
I receive when I try to start them:

XMMS:
Fatal error 'Spinlock called when not threaded.' at line 83 in file
/usr/src/lib/libpthread/thread/thr_spinlock.c (errno = 0)
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

mplayer:
Fatal error 'Spinlock called when not threaded.' at line 83 in file
/usr/src/lib/libpthread/thread/thr_spinlock.c (errno = 0)
Abort trap (core dumped)

I'm not sure if this is a new feature in 5 or a debugging problem or
what. Does anyone have any help they can offer?

Re: FreeBSD as a Desktop

2002-07-25 Thread Jason Porter

Yeah, it works great, I use it for a desktop. I too was tired of
Windows so I decided to switch. For wordprocessing StarOffice /
OpenOffice is out there (be warned though it takes a while to make) they
work great. For programing I don't use an IDE, personally I'm a vi guy
(I use vim and gvim) they work well for what I do. Some people use
emacs, it's a preference thing. Email and web surfing can be done with
mozilla. ICQ and AIM can be handled with gabber or gaim or some other
ones out there. For mp3 players there are a lot out there in the ports
colleciton. I use xmms and wmusic to dock it in WindowMaker. I'm quite
pleased with FreeBSD as a desktop. It boots faster, shuts down faster.
And I can use it for a test bed (I do web development). Probably the
best thing so far is that it hasn't crashed too often, I think once or
twice. And you can always rebuild the things that break :) So there's
my little spiel on it.

Great, works like a charm! My two side buttons don't work, but I can
live with that :) Thanks again.

Thanks for the help, but it still doesn't work. Here's the section from
my XF86Config file:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "MS IntillMouse Optical"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "MouseSystems"
Option"Device" "/dev/sysmouse"
Option"ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

If anyone has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

XFree86 Wheel Mouse

2002-07-12 Thread Jason Porter

Hi all, I upgraded from XFree86 3.3.6 to 4.2.0 a couple of hours ago.
I'm running 4-stable, btw. Before when I was using 3.3.6 the wheel on
my MS IntilliMouse Optical worked just fine, now it doesn't I've looked
at xev and it doesn't register the wheel moving as an event. I have
Buttons 7 and ZAxisMapping 6 7 in my XF86Config file. Any help here
would be great, thanks.
