Re: rw access to ntfs
writing into NTFS it is not officialy supported yet. on of the solutions - is to create some partition with FAT32 for example and use it. :-) On 6/29/05, Ben Paley [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello, I'm running 5.4 on a dual boot machine with winxp. Here's the relevant line of /etc/fstab: /dev/ad0s2 /mntntfsrw 0 0 It mounts fine with no errors at boot time, but I seem to have read-only access. I've done a bit of googling about this and everything I find which mentions this is quite old, and all the replies seem to imply it should have been sorted by now. Any ideas? Under xp I use grabit from (www.shemes.com). I tried the pan newsreader but it permanently crashes when reading and caching large newsgroups (more than 100mb of cache). Are there good and stable freebsd newsreader available? It should be able to do the following: 1) decoding binary attachments 2) (if possible) nzb file support 3) easy to use P.S: I tried grabit with wine under freebsd, unfortunately grabit crashes, so this is not an alternative! Re: Newbie: fonts c.
try to install /usr/ports/x11-fonts/webfonts or alternative /usr/ports/x11-fonts/arkpandora then enter on of the following lines into X config FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/font/webfonts/ or FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/font/arkpandora/ Also look at the Modules section into X config. I've added the various bluecurve packages, browsed through FreeBSD FAQs, and tried gtk[2]-theme-switch; that didn't help either. I should also note that when I previewed the Bluecurve theme in gtk2-theme-switch, it didn't really look like the Bluecurve I'm used to. Any ideas? RE: Via VT8233a Sound support (?)
Copying over the files (assuming installed under /usr/src) /usr/src/sys/dev/sound/pci/ich.h /usr/src/sys/dev/sound/pci/ich.c with the equivalents from -stable should allow audio to work on this board. Probably the easiest way to get the latest revisions of these files is via cvsweb: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/src/sys/dev/sound/pci/ich.h http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/src/sys/dev/sound/pci/ich.c Obviously you'll have to rebuild your kernel and make sure the appropriate device entries exist. What's the current status of support (in the pcm driver?) for the Via VT8233a Southbridge sound? I just looked at some postings about this in Google, and it doesn't look very encouraging. (That's kind-of a bummer, cuz I just bought this shiny new Soyo KT333 motherboard, and I hate to have to go and buy a soundblaster for this box when the motherboard has perfectly good sound support right there on the motherboard.)
