A direct link to Ports (probably "Ported Applications") and maybe one to the bug database rather than "Report A Bug" would be nice. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Hi, As there is a thread on that topic... here my 2 cents. I find it sort of painfull to have to go 2 clicks to find sings like the handbook that used to be linked from the home page. I sit a few feet away from a 19" monitor, and have my minimum font size set larger than normal to compensate for sites that use teeny typefaces. When I loaded the new www.freebsd.org with that minimum size decreased a few points, it looked fine. Try it on your own: visit the site and increase the font size a bit, and see if it doesn't resemble my screenshot. And it still renders as a a narrow (maybe 50% of window width) column centered horizontally. That is, it doesn't reflow at all. Widen your browser window and the little column stays centered in the middle of huge white tracts. Make it narrower and watch as the horizontal scroll bars pop into play. I still think the design generally looks fine, but the implementation isn't so hot. I'll see if I can find time to hack on it this weekend. -- Kirk Strauser pgpzN0vA5n1qV.pgp Description: PGP signature

This screenshot comes from Konqueror 3.4.2 on a FreeBSD 6.0-BETA4 machine: http://subwiki.honeypot.net/pub/new_freebsd_org_in_konqueror.png FWIW, it looks almost identical in Firefox 1.0.7 on the same system. The design scales badly on larger windows, too: at 1600x1200, the content fills maybe 40% of my browser window. I like the overall look that they're shooting for, but the facelift is still kind of painful at this point. -- Kirk Strauser pgpEZbl0DNNnD.pgp Description: PGP signature

It would be more thoughtful & merciful of the web site designers/operators to define a background color w/ enough contrast too.
