Eclipse causes segmentation fault in Java

I'm using jdk16 from ports. I have also tried with diablo-jdk from ports with exactly the same result. java -version realpath: : No such file or directory java version 1.6.0_03-p4 Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-p4-root_13_may_2010_21_53-b00) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0_03-p4-root_13_may_2010_21_53-b00, mixed mode) After Eclipse crashes like this, my system becomes unusably slow: in top I can see the java process using 43 GB of memory (the SIZE column) and being in STOP state. Java is then slowly consuming my physical memory until I reboot. It is apparantely trying to dump a core: ls -lh ~/java.core -rw--- 1 oxyd oxyd43G May 13 21:15 /usr/home/oxyd/java.core I need to say this is the largest coredump I've ever seen. Doing sysctl kern.coredump=0 and retrying Eclipse produces the same error but doesn't hang my machine. I'm also unsure about the realpath: : No such file or directory message that appears in the output, but I don't know what it means and Google doesn't help much. I would like to use Eclipse's C++ CDT on OS X to remote debug apps on FreeBSD 6.1. Does anyone have experience with this? Eclipse - bug problem resolution for freebsd?
Hi During the past week I have posted a couple of reports about the bug referred to below on the freebsd-java mailing list ([EMAIL PROTECTED] is also listed as the maintainer for this port) but so far not received any acknowledgement or response so I guess either the person who has previously maintained this was either not around this week or has too much on his/her plate to deal with it right now. In these circumstances I am is a copy of my posting today to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the hope that some could help me identify a capable committer. --- Posted tday: Subject: can eclipse-devel port be upgraded to 3.02 ? To: freebsd-java.org, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Body: I have now found a fix is available by using the 3.02 upgrade. I cannot seem to reach any individual who would knows how to produce an upgrade or be in a position to commit one. Is anyone here able to advise on that might be achieved. If anyone here wants details of the bug I can provide them. Here is a copy of the email posted There is a bug in the current version 3.7M based on: eclipse-sourceBuild-srcIncluded-3.1M7.zip which provides a serious problem for new users - the help file system does not work. I understand from contributors to the eclipse forum that that bug is fixed in the latest version which is, I believe, 3.02. Apparently a fix for that bug was checked in very recently. Is there any chance that the new version (3.02?) with any late fixes could be made available for the freebsd java ports tree? It would be most appreciated if that could be done as soon as someone has the time available. A big thank you , in advance David -- 40 yrs navigating and computing in blue waters. eclipse
hi all.. i'm trying to run the linux eclipse on a 5.3 release. i have all the java set up. when i tried to run it i got: /usr/local/eclipse/eclipse: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory so i got the rpm for gtk2-2.4.13-2.1.src.rpm and installed using rpm. i didn't get any errors with the rpm and now i have libgtk* under /usr/X6R11/lib it wasn't libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 but libgtk-x11-2.0.so.400. so i lnked it like: #ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.400 /usr/X11R6/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 i also tried linking it under /usr/compat/linux/usr/X11R6/lib. still nothing... where is eclipse looking for those libs? thanks -- ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Error installing Eclipse 2.1.1 port
I get several errors when I'm trying to install the Eclipse 2.1.1 port but before I'm trying to dump the errorlog I just wanted to see if anyone has managed to install this port, or if there's any known bugs. //Joachim ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
