[Freedos-devel] help for the freedos bugzilla

2008-08-27 Thread Markus H. Maussner
hi

sorry for somehow offtopic and posting to the 2 ml's but i know of ppl who
are just in one of them...

the freedos bugzilla runs on one of my systems.
but its too slow and sometimes theres errors. this is because its running
on a rather small box. long storry why etc.
is there somebody who wants to take over the task moving the stuff from
one site to the other.
the current one is a debian box the target system is a solaris10 container
(shouldnt make much problems since it runs on perl and thats avalible on
both systems)

it got moved twice and everytime there where some problems, (missing perl
stuff, css not right etc etc). the person who helped bevore is right now
covered with work and told me he cant help in the near future.

Tassilo chose not to CC in a few mails even though I did tell him
about your wish / did refer him to you about some further details.
It would have made little sense to forward our German mails to you
afterwards either ;-). There were no bad intentions involved here.

after u told me that i should cc to jim since u r verreist (whats that
in english, on a jurney maybe). he emailed me directly so i answerd
him directly. anyway there where only 2 emails with us that i remembered
and them i forwarded tojim , forgetting that he might not understand
them, but if u think he got all emails.

volunteered that Jim would donate $$ for the hosting. I'm very
 uncomfortable with that.

that you would be the one to pay... If Tassilo believed this would
be the case, he misunderstood me. Actually if there was some pay

as said before, i never expected to get money and i even offered it for
free.

Anyway, let us not get distracted from the main goal here, upgrade
or replace our bugzilla :-). Sorry for any confusion related to
this. Let us try to CC everybody about this more often to avoid
 future confusion :-).

yes, sorry if it was me that caused the problems i didnt wanted to. i am
sorry.

[Freedos-devel] OT freedos irc / emails to markus/tassilo

2006-09-04 Thread markus
Hi

We had a major failor in our hardware. 3 Harddisks died at the same
time (well there it goes ur raid5). anyway never saw something like that.
the irc network was affected because on one of the nodes our i7c.org hub
was running.
i configured a new hub (balamb) and we r linked again. the only server
thats NOT linked is irc2 since its admin is on vacation (i already
emaied him).
anyway irc.i7c.org is a roundrobin in our dns so that u always get a
running one.
one last problem was that nobody was able to log into balamb since i had
a little config error, but thats fixed and everything runs smoth except
that irc2 isnt linked.
eric since you -for what ever reason- refuses to use domain names the
savest server would be 62.75.152.234 for you.

another system that was affected was the emails. i think all mails got
send sucessfully to the backup mx but in case i wont answer to some of
ur emails pls send it again.

thanks a lot and sorry for the problems.

different thing than using illegally acquired program.

Eric, here is your signboard :D Please don't feed the trolls. It's not

P.S. I am sure I have a stack of MS-DOS licenses somewhere in the

I don't really know if it's legal to use illegally acquired program if
you have a license for the program but not the program itself.

Just to close this IMO silly thread ;)

I find it sad that many Free Software/Open Source developers find it
silly or trolling to fully consider legal matters, and I'm not
talking just FreeDOS.

But if you do not wish to discuss this matter, I can shut up.

So, please let me (or us) know which aspects of

It's just that the general attitude here recently seems to be that
FreeDOS 1.0 will be released soon, whether it has known bugs or not.

[Freedos-devel] FAT patents and freedos?

Slashdot has an article Microsoft FAT Patent Upheld

The discussion also links to the page FAT File System Technology License

Does anyone know if this is a problem for FreeDOS or not? The linked
page about FAT license only speaks about using FAT on a media, and not
about products using FAT.

Hello all,

I'd like to know if there is any support for unicode and UTF-8 in FreeDos?

Specifically, I'd like to be able to view UTF-8 text-files in FreeDos
but I don't need to edit them. Is there any program (even in
development) which can show utf8-files in FreeDos?
